Macro Suggestion - @target

I’m sure someone will tell me why this breaks the game, but I have for sometime wished for this option for macros, but just assumed it was not desired.
Then you gave us ‘choice’ talents that basically allow us this very thing, ie the priest talent that lets your target Shadow Crash, or have it go to your target, and what with the apparent embrace of accessibility with the new 1-button option, I think the time has come.

Can you please add @target as an option for macros so you can use it for spells that have a targeting circle?
Then you can decide if you want to have a manually targeted spell, or just drop it at your target’s location.

I can’t really think of how this is ground breaking or bad, and seems like a good thing, but like I said, I’m sure someone will point out the error of my logic. lol

Blizz has explicitly said multiple times they don’t want this, and went out of their way to break it the one time it was possible.

That said, like you mentioned, they’ve begun switching some reticle abilities over to targeted versions so hopefully that trend continues.

I believe there’s a small difference between @target and shadow crash being at the target. If I recall correctly shadow crash will also follow the the target.

That said, I think @target should just work, there’s no reason for it not to. Having to weave in ground based spells into my melee rotation where I use my mouse to look and turn feels horrible. Besides of that I always lose my mouse location, so I can’t use @cursor, nor do I feel like having my spells end up on the ceiling.

This is even without all the accessibility arguments to have @target enabled for ground based spells.

Just give it back to us Blizz.

@player still works last I checked.

So you can default your ground targeted abilities to automatically cast on yourself. But you loose the ability to target the ground completely which means you loose any range to cast it away from you on an ally or enemy or random location.

So you could have 2 keybinds to have the option for manually placing the ground effect and then another build to cast on yourself with @player.

I get what you are saying and it would be a nice option for macros, sadly Blizzard doesn’t want this as an option from what they’ve said in the past.

What I do on any of my characters and targeted AoE spells is @Cursor. My cursor is always over the boss or pack of mobs ready to use an interrupt/stun/fear on mouseover, so this spells fire off on the group where my cursor already is positions; it works for me. If you haven’t tried this it might be something to consider.
