Macro question

So how would I set up a macro that would cast Blade Dance first if I have enough fury…if that is on cool down then it would cast chaos blade…and if both were down or if I just didn’t have enough fury it would cast Demon’s bite?

I want to let my 8 year old just be able to click 1 button and run around and kill things

Hey handsomejack I got a solution for you!

Download gse addon from the wow addon website than head on over to wow lazy macros or vice versa.

Its a website for people who make macros than import them through the addon automatically making them for you… The instructions are better laid out on the website…

Anyway though I have a 1 button macro for both havoc and vengence. I put it on my scroll wheel and it makes it very easy for me, I have the mythic + macro right now( the most popular one I think ) and it casts everything and keeps cycling even if things are on CD so its a cake walk!
Would be perfect for the lil guy! Hope this helped

This is not possible to do with a single macro. Macros cannot check for resources or cooldowns of abilities, specifically to prevent exactly the type of one-button-rotation automation you’re looking for. You could conceivably do it with a cast-sequence macro, but those are extremely brittle and invariably a significant DPS loss, since they unconditionally cast whatever sequence of abilities you put in them, and thus have no ability to adapt to changes in combat situation or varying resources (like our variable generation on Demon’s Bite and variable consumption on Chaos Strike).

From the description, GSE appears to bypass this restriction, but since that violates the entire point of macros, it’s very likely to be broken at some point. It also can only cast (or attempt to cast) one thing per button press, which means that you’re still left spamming the button. The first press would attempt to cast Blade Dance, but fail if it’s on CD or you lack the fury. The second press would attempt to cast Chaos Strike, but fail if you lack the fury. The third press would cast Demon’s Bite, then the entire sequence would reset. If you’re low on fury and BD is on cooldown, that means you have to hit the key 3 times after the GCD has ended in order to cast Demon’s Bite again.

Honestly, Havoc is pretty darn simple. If your 8yo is having issues with the existing rotation, spec him into Demon Blades and don’t take First Blood or Trail of Ruin. That reduces the rotation to literally 2 buttons, Chaos Strike and Eye Beam (and that only every 30s). It’s a rather significant DPS loss over the dominant specs, but it’ll do just fine for solo play.

I know GSE has been around for a while now, but it really isn’t good (see above). Do not expect to pull competitive numbers (or your son to improve) while utilising it.
