Dear Blizz,
I posted this in the Macro section, but I wanted more people to see it. Can we PLEASE get the macro interface overhauled? Why are we limited on the overall number of macros we can make? And instead of character specific macros, can we just get one macro page that has different tabs for different classes but are still visible to every character? Some type of organization, but ultimately accessible to every character. I can’t be the only person with this problem.
Thanks. And if anybody reads this please upvote it or whatever, just want as many people to see this as possible.
Indeed.
Perhaps add a customization guide for people new to macros, allowing the system to identify if the macro is going to work, what it’s going to do, etc…
Plus, make the macro screen MUCH bigger, all class and spec specific macros saved across multiple chars, increase the length of the available macros, and allow for the macro to be click-tested from the macro screen.
Blizz needs to understand and come to terms with the realization that macros are now a core, fundamental requirement to play the game.
The ability to organize macros would be very nice. (As would the ability to see all your macros on all characters — that shadow word pain macro on my priest makes a good template for moonfire.)
I’d like to see the macro window look more like the mount window. So, on one side you have your list of macros (with the full name of the macro visible) and a nice big area on the other side to edit macros in. (With a bigger font than the current default to make it easier to catch weird typos like smart quotes.)
I’d also like longer macro names.
Obviously, more macros is also something I’d very much like.
I’d also like longer macros. The game can handle longer macros, it’s really just the macro UI that forces them to be limited to 255 characters. (While 1023 characters would be great, even 511 would generally be enough most times I’ve run afoul of the limit.)
This! Literally, the game doesn’t tell you anything about how to make a macro, or what they can do. It’s all on Wowpedia and Wowhead.
Also OP, have you tried the Mega Macro addon?
While I’m not the OP, this is a case where I don’t think that addons should be the solution, as there’s no way to know if support for them will continue. Given how important macros can be in how you play your character, it’s a bit daunting knowing that you might have to start over if an author moves on from WoW.
I was using M6, which has also lost support. (I mean, addon authors generally do this as a hobby. It’s only natural that at some point they’ll want to move on.)
it would be awesome if I could tag a macro to a class
so my druid macros don’t show up for my hunter
or maybe make it a dropdown so I can see them but I’m not losing a (non-character specific) potential hunter macro slot every time I make a druid macro.
Funny enough, I just checked Mega Macro (TY for the recommendation Doness) and it is no longer supported.
1000 macro minimum for an account (and up the character limit to 512). Like why not. I know mouseovers are coming natively with 9.2, but help harm macro; arena1/2/3 modifiers and talent row macros easily bypass the current limit.
Like right now we don’t even have a working native ui button for covenant abilities when we literally had it while leveling to 60 through the zones.
That’s 12 macros right there (and the 13th as covenant signature ability) if you want play all classes and not have character specific macros (which I think are dumb so just add more to the account total).
Also add a search function for text and images.
