As with each new expansion the list of icons ever increases and makes it harder to find specific icons for your Macros,. Can we get an update to this system that can sort icons by type (Weapon, Armor, Consumable, Gemstone, Expansion added) and add a search bar that highlights by icon name.
Edit: Okay removed that last part… thank you. Took out the #showtooltip thing, since others have corrected me on it.

Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying, if you use #showtooltip as the first line and don’t select any icon, it will automatically set the icon to the spell whose tooltip is being shown.

i agree with this - the big icon dump is hard to manage.
edit: he wants the icons easier to find.

There used to be (still is?) a good addon for picking macro icons but I forget what it was. A quick search turned up two but one hasn’t been updated sine 2013 and the other 2016.
Macro Toolkit let’s you search by keyword or spellid, and it’s updated for the current patch iirc
But it doesn’t play nice with other macro addons, sadly.
If you select the question mark icon when making a macro, it’ll automatically show the tooltip for the next line in the macro, or whatever you put in the #showtooltip line
My personal gripe for macros is that we don’t have enough slots if you play multiple classes and all varieties of content.
I really wish there was a [pvptalent] (still) or [pvpcombat] conditional
If I have a Dark Iron Dwarf, I’d naturally want to put my racial in with my burst cds, but if you do that in PvP, it trips your medallion for a 30s CD, meaning you need two macros for your burst, one for PvE and one for PvP, further bloating my macro slots
If they added an @cursor interface option (per character/per spell setting) that could free up a lot of default macro slots.

Yeah, adding a mouseover interface option definitely helped so I don’t have to have
/use [@mouseover,exists,harm][] spell ; spell
for literally everything
This lets you search, plus it’s a much larger display of the icons that makes it easier to look for something visually;

Yes. Thank you. It drives me crazy whenever I go to create a macro, I have to scroll through literally thousands of options, and there’s no way to look for “sword” or “potion” or “food” etc. They’re sorted so haphazardly.
I still believe that the window for choosing a macro icon needs to resizable.
