I recently obtained 8/8 t2 and was wondering if there’s a macro that would cast one spell unless under the effect of the proc (netherwind focus), in which case it would cast a different spell. For example, fireball normally but pyroblast if there’s a proc.
Being that it procs when your cast goes off it’s impossible to actually react to it unless you don’t chain your casts together and wait after each spell. Which would most likely be a dps loss. It would be excellent if you got the proc on casting a spell so you can react, but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Thanks in advance!
For Reference - 8 pieces: 10% chance after casting Arcane Missiles, Fireball, or Frostbolt that your next spell with a casting time under 10 seconds cast instantly.
you could weakaura the proc as a big smily face and when you see it, manually cast the spell.
that’s my approach in retail to such effects.
Right, but the problem is if I’m linking my casts the proc will just munch whatever I’m already casting and I won’t get the chance to react to it. Unless I stop after every cast to check which will be a dps loss unless I got insanely lucky with procs
No you can’t make macros that have conditionals for buffs/debuffs.
because of server inputs and what appears to be (but isn’t) spell travel time, you’d be mid-casting next spell.
so how does the bonus work? does it autocomplete next cast or does it proc while you do the next cast and have it available for the … next-next cast? like hot streak in retail?
you might be able to get a few pyroblasts in there if it procs during a cast and doesnt eat the cast.
put a horn to make noise when it procs so you can hit escape and cast the pyro if you are channeling casts
you have 2.5s or 3s to react to it, is not that hard
That’s not how it works. It procs when your cast finishes so you have literally zero chance to react to it if you’re linking it into your next cast. If it were 2 or 3 seconds I wouldn’t be making this post.

Same thing happened with hot streak in wotlk.
Ideally you would fireball - hot streak proc - pyro - fireball
But what would really happen is fireball - hot streak proc - fireball then pyro
You’re going to have to train yourself for tiny pauses between casts.
This is what i’m thinking as well. going to require some discipline. I’m in the same boat.
You can’t. It goes off far too late into cast.
If you pause, you’ll lose dps.
In fire spec get really good at mana conservation, those fireball casts will drain you.
It’s pretty fun when you chain proc and fire off 3 casts in a row instantly.
