I've had blink keybinded to mouse wheel up for as long as I've been playing mage, but after talenting into Shimmer, I'm having a lot of difficulty only using one charge at a time. When I cast the spell with wheel up, it seems to queue up two casts and use both charges, which is almost never what I'm wanting to do.
Is there a macro I can use to add a (small) cooldown to ensure I'm only using one charge at a time when I use the mouse wheel? Or would I be better off rebinding entirely?
Not sure on the macro, but if you're looking to rebind the ability I'd suggest using C. Super comfortable placing that's easily reached.

/castsequence reset=2 Shimmer, nullAdjust the reset timer to your liking. That will basically prevent you from casting Shimmer again for two seconds after the first one.

Replace shimmer with blink for a macro that works with the Shimmer talent and without.

Any time an ability says "Variant Ability replaces Base Ability" you don't have to change your macros to Variant, just keep it as "Base ability" and it will continue to work when you change talents.

Just make your "mouse wheel up" a key bind
