Welcome to the forums? People have been asking for a âmachinistâ hero class for years in WoW, although it would probably be named Tinker because of lore.
I think itâs quite likely that it will be the next hero class too, because what other fantasy archetype is still missing in WoW?
Bard
Caster tank
Duel wielding guns
Dual wielding ranged spellcaster
Cloth melee/tank
Mail tank
cause mage, priest, warrior, etc etc are âoriginalâ
pretty sure D&D coined majority of the classes in existence.
I still wish demonology got that caster tank role it deserves. God damn Demon Hunters stole our metamorphosis and our chances to be thicc tanky bois.
Having a caster as a tank would open up so much for the game.
But nah. Thatâs too hard.
Bard is too specific. WoW classes must support a variety of playstyle because you canât change class, so you canât make an entire class centered around singing songs. You could have a class themed around tricks and manipulation (like a Guild Wars mesmer) and then maybe songs could be a spec. I donât think a lot of people are asking to play that kind of character though.
Those arenât archetypes those are properties. Also, dual-wielding guns would step big time on hunters identity. Iâd rather see dual-wielding guns appear as a marksmanship hunter talent than as a new class.
Bard- we see many types of sound based damage. In the recent patch the sirens are somewhat bards. Ive made threads about them before. Sooth sayer healing and heavy metal tanks siren casting dps spec. They may also take inspiration from Vanya in The Umbrella Academy.
As far as duel wielding guns If you see overwatch got plenty of shooter like heroes that can be reformatted in WoW. Tracer, reaper, D.Va, Doomfist, Maoga all have duel wield guns that have styles that wouldnt be similar to hunters. Machinist use some chain saw like weapons in some ff games. A short-mid range gunsman with explosives wouldnt be too hard. Combat rogue sort of do this with there cannons and guns.
Please YES
So if FF14 (and MCH) in this case, you have a very simple basic rotation you kind of spam over and over and all those abilities are on the global cool down. You also have a whole host of off GCD abilities that you weave in-between. Itâs the way you weave your off GCDs into your rotation that is very complex and seperates the quality their of players.
One example is an ability called wildfire. Itâs puts a debuff on the target and every attack you make on the target before it expires increases the damage of the wildfire when it expires. So a good player and work a ridiculous amount of abilities into that 10 seconds for huge damage where a less experienced player might double or triple it.
Sorry for the long answer but the point is that nearly all our current WoW classes are massively boring or feel tedious to do basic stuff in the open world. I donât care how much damage I do, I want my class to be fun.
Only issue I have with Machinist in FFXIV Is the gearâŠâŠ I feel like Iâm Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z and I have a hard time fighting the impulse shoutingâŠITS OVER 9000!!!
Then go play FF. I am sure someone will miss you. Maybe.
Well, we have complicated steam tanks, electrical marvels, time travelling gizmos, grenades, pistols, blunderbuss etc.
But I suppose fighting efficiently with these technology is against the rules of theâŠ
Not finishing that or I might get a vacation for the reference.
lmaoâŠ
I think the point the poster is making is that the classes we have currently are anything but original. In fact, thatâs the main gripe most people have with this expansion.
except DH had meta since WC3 long before warlocks had it
(not saying it wasnt fun but it didnt actually fit the class as lore wise no warlock ever turned INTO a demon excluding kanrethad and maybe gulâdan imbued with legions magic)
And it only took them 2 expansions to finally make the class viable!
