I’m a F2P/Vet account who made a toon on Moon Guard a couple of years ago and have been having a lot of fun spinning solo RP adventures that I document as machinima videos on YouTube and have virtually met a couple of other machinima makers thanks to the YouTube algorithm but I’d love to be able to find more Moon Guard machinima makers I can follow, so if you’re a Moon Guard machinima maker please feel free to use this thread to tell us about your show.
I have passed this thread along to two of my friends who also make machinimas
Woohoo! I look forward to seeing their work!
Hey there Pook, I have ran across you once or twice,
I am currently in the process of releasing a season of content on my own channel, many details are still being figured out but I to would love to collaborate with the Nixioms and the other Pookamhuras that are out there.
I do have some newish content on my channel but I haven’t done a great job of uploading one shots. I am also on Twitch at Twitch.tv/Dreyfusxano.
Can’t wait to see your channel! Keep us posted!
I’m a bit more interested to learn how to go about making machinimas. I think it’d be pretty neat to do!
Well there’s different approaches. There’s an add-on called Narcissus that some people use to create their videos and there used to be WoW Modelviewer but I don’t think its updated for Dragonflight.
For me I like to puppet my toon with macros and actually shoot in game video. It limits what you can do compared to using one of the other tools but it’s so rewarding when you pull off the shot you wanted with the in game camera. For me the limitations breeds creativity and I’ve been getting a little more bold with my shots now that I’m evolving my machinima skills.
I think my favourite shot I’ve done so far is in the song Adventure Bound (This Old Ratchet Town Reprise) where I have the Pook switch from her mount to goblin glider and sail across the lava rift from North Barrens to South Barrens. I practiced the shot before I started recording and I fell right into the lava. Next time I nailed the shot perfectly. I literally started cheering when I pulled the shot off on the first take. It’s being able to do stuff like that in the game that I’m really enjoying doing.
I’ve used Narcissus for a couple of episodes where I wanted to have the Pook having a conversation with Dark Pook and Light Pook (her consciences). It takes a little getting used to and it’s really hard to copy the exact lighting of the scene to make it mesh with the in game footage, but it worked good for two imaginary beings. Matching the in game angles and cameras is a little tricky with Narcissus and Wow Modelviewer and it can make the characters look like they’re not part of the background. This is why I like using puppeteering with my in game toon whenever possible.
