Question incase anyone’s encountered this. I’ve recently swapped from an imac to a macbook pro (2017 model). Which is fine, but the mice I’ve traditionally used for wow (razer naga and the logitech MMO one) have standard USB slots. Not thunderbolt.
I’ve used an adaptor but it seems to treat either mouse as just a normal one, and none of their software registers the additional button imputs.
Anyone encountered something similar and able to help me out?
Does the mouse software allow for the additional buttons to be re-assigned? I typically suggest re-assigning keys to number pad keyboard inputs as a work around for the issue.
Hi there I’m really interested in more information on the matter.
I have a Roccat XTD which I used on my PC and now on my Mac. The problem is only while using the Mac
Here is the issue: I play a priest and I can’t seem to selfcast while targeting another player using my mouse. It does work if I click the actionbar or use the keyboard.
Example: I have assigned a healing spell on bottom left action bar matching action button 4, and it’s assigned numerical value 4. Then on the Roccat interface I reassigned one of the extra buttons to be inputting 4 as well.
That worked beautifully on my PC even when using the extra shift option button on the Roccat to double up the extra button function.
However it will not work on the Mac but only if I’m trying to self cast while targeting another player, if I’m trying to cast a spell on someone else the Roccat buttons work properly.
Example: I can target an enemy and cast SW:Pain but I can’t cast Renew on myself while still having said enemy targeted.
I know it’s long winded and I repeat myself but I just wanted to be clear.
Any idea?
Thanks.
Does the mouse software setting to reassign the key to “4” carry across from PC to Mac, or would we have to install the mouse software to the Mac to assign the key 4 there as well? Are we self casting with a macro or a key modifier like CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT?
Hi and thanks for getting back to me.
After much online digging and forums posting…I feel pretty dumb now and I’ll explain why in a second.
I found a solution, but yes I have installed the Mac version of the Roccat software/drivers and assigned the key binding there for the mouse button assignment to match my action bar key binding. I am using the wow interface key modifiers for selfcasting, no macro.
I have tried every combination of key modifiers and assignment possible on the Mac and mouse software, however I have found a line of “code” online to be typed in Terminal. I did that but it didn’t work, or so it seemed. And the problem now is that I can’t verify the fix, BUT: and you want wow/client to be closed, after having typed “defaults write com.blizzard.worldofwarcraft disable-expose-fix -bool YES” in terminal (without quotation marks), I am now able to selfcast while targeting another player using the modifier “Alt” via the WoW interface option>Combat.
“Alt” is the only modifier that works out of all the options.
I hope this helps any other casters playing wow on Mac.
This is actually quite often the fix for multi-button mice, especially those from Roccat and Razer. When Exposé is enabled, its hot corner assignments interfere with modifier keys used with mice because the mice using keyboard assignments for buttons are treated like keyboards by the OS, thus you get the conflict. Kill Exposé and the conflict goes away.
