For at least the last three years - presumably before that - the Mac client has let you map Command-Q as a key bind. It’s a convenient key so it has been my interrupt button this entire time.
As of today’s patch, Command-Q is now a “close the game instantly, with no warning” button. Granted, this is how Command-Q works in the majority of Mac apps but it’s sad to lose the option to use it as a key bind and the lack of confirmation hurts.

You should be able to remap it if you go to System Settings/System Preferences → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts/Shortcuts → App Shortcuts and add a custom shortcut for WoW’s “Quit World of Warcraft”.

Thanks! This does work as a workaround and doesn’t appear to affect cmd-q functionality for other apps. Hopefully they’ll still change it back to its previous behavior because this is buried pretty deep in System Settings.
For anyone who finds this thread later, while “World of Warcraft” may not show up in the list of applications, you can add a custom shortcut to “All Applications” with the menu item text “Quit World of Warcraft”.
Yeah, it’s pretty crummy that they changed it.
my game is closing whenever I press the ` or ’ keys, that before I was using in my game keybindings. But I removed it and it still happens.
