M+ timers: Reason why its toxic and dominated by raider.io

Maybe they could implement a system that doesn’t punish players for being slow, but instead reward players for being fast. Something like removing the timer system and give players extra loot based on how fast they cleared it. But still give players a base reward.

They can have the 35 anima for making a speed clear.

If they remove the timer, it changes the entire genre imo and it becomes some crappy version of Torghast.

I think people give up too easily. One big part of M+ that people turn a blind eye to, is just how important practice is to your success. Certain dungeons, like DoS, I’ve run so many times, that even my CD usage is just built “into the script” (based on experience) at this point.

This is content that literally anyone can do - but the “everyone gets a trophy” culture has frightened many gamers into being afraid of challenge and pushing themselves.

people fail one key and it’s the end of the world and take to the twitter/forum/wowhead charts to complain about it. just keep trying lol

Lol … no. Being a healer made it possible.

This discussion is for dps players.

Healers and tanks have their own issues … but getting into groups is not one of them.

sounds like a quitter mentality to me

as a resto druid - getting into a group isn’t as easy as you think these days - neither is it for tanks this season. please make sense

M+ now in Shadowlands is a toxic swamp that will corrupt any half mannered player (if you pug). It will need big changes in the next expansion to save it.

Preach also just made a video on Raider.io how he was shocked that his team member got 0 +14 invites, compared to fingle and how bad it is for casuals more or less. You have to put in the grind for ALL dungeons, the best thing is though that most of the times you wont even get invited to a key if you havent cleared it before.
And GL if you dont play a META class. Its the worst.

If you are a girl, you can easily get a group of 4 men to do all the dungeon content you want and play what you want. Ive seen it personally, might try it out, but im not jealous. I dont like to be favored, I pull the weight not others for me. Maybe you are the same and like challenges like pugs

you know i’m a healer right? lol

yeah let me just go buy an army of simps

Players: These 2 cat’s are really hostle and about to fight.

Blizzard: let’s spray them with water every 10 seconds until they stop… That will totally get them to stop fighting.

Players: ummm don’t you think that may make the problem worse?

Blizzard: hey now if they are gonna fight, they are gonna fight it’s not our responsibility if they do.

Players: But shouldn’t you set up a environment that helps these cats to avoid hurting each other?

Blizzard: (popcorn in hand) huh? did you say something?

Streamers do it all the time. They dont like the challenge and want their benefits. I think its pathetic.

you’re right about that…but they’re playing a different game than us so we has to :muscle: :brain:

With the insane amount of logging World of Warcraft does on the server side, there has to be a way to gather metrics with which the player can be graded on other than just the Diablo 3 Greater Rift timer. That’s what players are asking for: metric based evaluation.

I guess the question then becomes, do the devs want to bother with making it happen, and will the corporate side let them take the time to let it happen? Being on a purely timer based system with no margin for error or multiple pathing capability does lead to a lot of negative impacts on both playstyles and player mentalities.

It’s sometimes funny to say that in a BG or dungeon just to see the reaction.

Taking on the challenge makes your will stronger. I noticed it helps a lot irl. Nobody can stop me when im determined to do smth yea, not even my failures. The biggest weapon you can have

They could. They should. They won’t. Because Activision. Old Blizz wouldve done it, but how do you tell your suits that you need to spend money on smth that the community already does for free lol

I think this would backfire in the face of the majority of the people asking for it. :woman_shrugging:

also, logging (for warcraft logs, at least) doesn’t happen server side, and it also doesn’t happen unless the player explicitly turns it on. I don’t know that blizzard does more in-depth logging on their end, or if they use WCL data.

maybe they do? idk. in BG’s they track overall, but overall isn’t really a great metric.

They’ve told us year after year that they have more data than just WCL. Think about it. If the game API allows WCL to collect what it does, Blizzard can collect the data themselves too, automatically. No developer is going to go purely by external examination when doing actual balancing work.
