I believe that the rewards around M+ could use a bit of a buff, in several different ways. The drop rate for gear has been feeling pretty doodoo lately, and I’m usually just waiting for my weekly vault to have any chance at a payoff. Ok, fine, we get it. Gear shouldn’t be free and you should work for it. Git gud yadda yadda whatever dude we understand. Lets just move past that sort of talk as a sign of mutual respect pretty please.
Yesterday I did four keys over the course of about two and half hours and got a whopping zero pieces of gear. That smarts, especially because the gold at the end of the dungeon didn’t even cover my repairs and the gold cost of consumables that I used. I actually walked away poorer than when I started. I lost gold. I think that’s kind of garbage.
What’s more, after you get your mount and achievement, there’s not really much incentive to keep playing. I think its great that blizzard is making the gearing process better and removing the amount of busy work and chores you have to do to make characters ready to at least start doing keys or jump into raiding. That’s awesome. But a side effect is that we’re running into just how repetitive and boring M+ gets because there’s not a whole lot to work towards.
Think about pvp for example. Even if you’re just running RBG’s or some non rated arenas, you’re progressing your account honor and there’s rewards for that. You get titles, mounts, pets, etc. If you’re doing rated you can get those vicious saddles to get previous season mounts. Wouldn’t it be nice if M+ had a system like that? Complete keys, earn points towards other extra stuff that doesn’t have to be gear. You could unlock goodies to spend points on the more you play over time. Previous season mounts, cosmetics, that sorta thing.
TLDR: Mythic dungeons should give more gold because otherwise you’re spending resources for nothing most of the time. Possibly scale with key level? M+ reward system should just be more. More overarching stuff to progress on. Think like account honor level so there’s some reason to play after your vault is full.
There is a 60% chance to get no loot from a m+ dungeon. Not getting loot 4 times in a row has a 12.96% chance of happening. It is a very common outcome.
He did and nothing about his reply was troll, it was factual. As for should mplus reward more gold? No cause gold is supposed to be the cost of doing end game content (repairs/consumables). Mythic plus is like you said just the same thing over and over again removing or adding a reward to it doesn’t make it any less or more. Now could they add a bar system after reaching the 2.5k rating point that fills up over time in order to get old mplus season mounts? Then that would foster a get 2.5k rating and farm +2 keys, doesn’t sound very pleasing.
We are adventurers after booty. We are plunderers, vault robbers, corpse grubbing loot-ladies of the evening.
Consumables are the investment required to carry out the mission, but like any good venture, you spend money with the intention of making money.
The premise that raiding should be a gold sink is ludicrous. The inference is that we’re day laborer’s, saving up to pay for some big holiday to Onyxia’s Fun Cave where we pump gold into arcade machines, eat overpriced funnel cake and come home broke for another year until we’ve worked enough overtime at the mill to take the wife and kids away again.
If this was real life we would be pathetic millionaire men-children sinking their fortunes into fruitless treasure hunts that end up costing us 10 times as much as they net until we went broke.
Raiding should actually be one of the most lucrative ordeals you can undertake in this game, but it’s better for Blizzard if we’re common schlubs working odd jobs to make enough money to cover the cost of the Elvis costume we wear when we busk at the swap meet on Sundays. Because that keeps up busier.
why do we even play this game except to be gold grubbing gear chasing loot goblins
the idea that you should slave away hours of your life competing against literal bots on the auction house for gold to then spend those hyper inflated zimbabwe dollars to do content only to get told “what do you MEAN you spent ONLY half your night and a thousand gold or so? Why didn’t you spend 6 hours instead of 3? You are being unreasonable.”
it is the most low IQ wow brain take I’ve had typed out to me in probably a month. Not everyone is sitting on millions that they made in their wod garrisons and they’ve been coasting on it since. I shouldn’t leave a night of clearing dungeons poorer than when I started. That’s the game throttling me and discouraging me from playing because they’re so scared of hyper dedicated no lifes gaming their systems and getting ahead. Actively making the game worse to hold the tryhards back a little bit.
ok but its Wednesday right now so in your opinion I should be giddy with excitement about my one (1) piece of gear (or tokens cuz oops all wrists and hands, don’t need) is waiting for me in six days and I should thank blizzard for the opportunity
won’t comment on the gear drop because it’s the easiest gearing has ever been. but damn man, a 0 should AT LEAST be added onto the amount of gold. i think 500g for a key would be more than fair.
So waa waa you did 4 dungeons got no loot not really too shocking there or unheard of get over it.
If you git gud you wouldn’t have had as many repair bills and no one required you to use consumables nor do you even really need them for mythics unless your going for higher keys even then all optional so that’s on you.
Only part I can agree on is points towards extra stuff similar to the rated bgs saddles that would actually be a little interesting to see but odds are the items would be as boring/trash as the traders post junk but still options are good.
Disagree with what? Thats how the game is designed for the economy amd has been since vanilla. So you can’t disagree with that, you can with the principle of the idea but nothing you say has anything to do with that.
Its really not you are just looking at this from a personal and emotional (based on your experiences recently) without consideration of the frame as a whole. Lets say mplus and raiding rewards more gold so even without a loot reward you make a net gold positive. Then you never need gold if you raid or do mplus so you never have to sell anything key carries, aotc, ce ect ect. So then the farmers of the economy have no reason to farm as these are not being sold them so now you have less consumables and mats available to the market causing a price spike. You took an idea that helps you without looking at the snowball.
I think the gear from m+ is fine, trinkets aside. However, the mount is complete garbage and they really should’ve added some other incentives long before now. I guess they don’t because they don’t feel like they have to but it would really make the game a lot more fun if you had things to work towards above 2k or I guess 2500.
Also if they make M+ rewards too good people will just stop raiding. Wonder why the raid trinkets the past couple tiers have been so much stronger than anything that drops in a dungeon
I think people would complain less if there was just a little bit less reliance on the vault to get your gear progress. I get it, we’re not entitled to gear. They shouldn’t be showering you with drops. But man does it suck to game for hours and not get anything then you’re just stuck praying to the vault gods so they bless you.
And then you get things you already have or two different hands occupying your hard earned slots and your efforts went to waste lol
It probably would yeah. But a lot of people don’t like raiding because of the social/behavioral barriers to entry. It can take a lot more time than comparatively just running a key or two. There’s a lot of structural stuff that just takes time logistically. And pugging raids just sucks so much more than pugging keys. Lotta attitudes, lotta leavers, people getting kicked and having to be summoned after every wipe. The biggest thing pulling people into raids is more chances at tier and the good trinkets because of more vault slots. Otherwise I think people just wouldn’t bother.
Its completely ridiculous that the logistical time wasting and toxic behavior has been allowed to just exist in the game forever and hasn’t been smoothed out even a little bit. I completely understand that the player behavior is not all the game’s fault. But the game is the root of the toxicity. People get pissed off and don’t want their time wasted wiping to stupid stuff and having to walk back and rebuff and replace people in the raid etc so they just do M+ instead
I dunno about anyone else but I never cared about getting 2500 because its mostly just bragging rights. Its an achievement, big deal. You do get your portals on that journey, but how good of a reward are those? How often does blizzard think I use those portals after the season is over? I never have. Because I have no reason to go back there. And they’re not account wide, they’re character specific.
