I’ve seen alot of posts about Raiderio and M+ rating being toxic and bad for the game but I think the pill people need to swallow is if you believe that, you are the problem. Not the io, not players that don’t want you because of low io - it’s you.
Rating exists for a reason. People want to play the game with other players that are similar skill level. I am currently 2600io, why would I want a 1600 player to come into my 20 key and just grief my and everyone else time and key. Stop blaming the rating and get better yourself.
And if you are one of those people that says “oh i only have so much time” blah blah… do you really think you are the only one?? Do you think someone that plays maybe 2 hrs a day but is also pretty good at the game wants you to waste their time because they can’t see your io? Get over yourself.
I am barely above 2150, and recently I got a decent boost on my ilvl (404) and I am able to heal +16 easily. But due to my rating, I barely can grab a spot on a +16. Most of the time people suck, dps don’t interrupt and so on, key broke and I am again looking for another key.
This is just an example, but it’s almost the rule, people will invite those with more rating, even so, you don’t need 2300+ rating to do a +16 on time.
Without rating there would be no reason at all to pug. If I had to take a complete guess about a player with no information then I’d probably just stick exclusively to people I know.
There’s always been checks. Gearscore being one of the first that I remember. But going back even further than that, “meet me at org bank for inspection”.
Your gear doesn’t matter nearly as much as skill, but you need both. Am I going to ask every applicant if they know their rotation, the big dispels/interrupts of the dungeon, and other key mechanics? That’s a headache. Much easier to just not do it.
Rating is the best way to do it. Then I know if you’re 2800 you’re probably pretty good, and if you’re 2200 you’re pretty much average.
I have 2680 and I think its more a player problem then a system problem. I roll my eyes knowing 18-19 are stuggling to find healers as I get three dozen healers who haven’t timed a 16 yet signing up for my 20-22.
Ran a 18 TJS with a DK who absolutely got hard carried to 2400ish. Less interrupts than the BM hunter, 45k DPS overall, he gripped exactly 1 caster mob out of sanguine finally at the end.
Oh this thread is gonna be real good. Trying to ask people to take responsibility for their own situation is always bound to go real well on these forums.
Raider.io came into existence to basically make pugging higher keys possible at all.
Since you only have 1 try a need was created to be able to get an understanding of the level of play of everyone in the group before the run starts. This is different than raiding where you can just kick clueless people after a wipe and refill. Raider.io was created to fill this need.
You’re spot on, I want to do keys with people with the same IO as me. I don’t want to do keys with people that are a thousand IO lower than me because well they don’t know the mechanics. I really don’t care how much time people have on their hands, if they truly have a passion to do higher keys and whatever, they can make the time they have work. If they fail the key with the limited time they have, then it’s okay they can always try again another day.
Score doesn’t equal skill, but it does show experience. You being 2150 mean you are in the 14-15 range with 2000 being obtainable with timing +13s. It’s not that you can’t do +16s, you just don’t stand out.
Score is massively inflated this season with how they reworked score and untimed keys giving way more than they used to.
and so on on topics that don’t even have anything to do with that. You could say you like the color of Warlock’s green fire and someone would tell you that you’re a scrub because you only do LFR and should shut up.
Especially when they have nothing to rebutt your opinion with,
I mean look at the peeps doing that. Shut down a 6/8N guy the other day because he was calling out the OP about his raid progression. OP was simply trying to get eyeballs on Fury’s DPS problems.
