M+ only looking for rDPS, ever wonder why?

Until all ranged DPS are given a minimum range from their target, there were never be a reason not to favor them in PvE.

it’s broadly true in my experience and from what I’m seeing in almost every group comp and top key leaderboards. I know it’s not true for everyone as some do take a warrior dps in their comp

I would…I mean you have to consider what content you’re doing too. Just because the ideal comp is doing world records doesn’t mean a good group of any 5 players of any combination can’t beat the timer you know?

This entire xpac is heavily anti-melee. Dungeons, affixes, raids - ranged have EZ mode.

oh for sure, I was in a great group and made an 11 feel smoother than most 5-8s i’ve done. Just feels the game is more forgiving and rewarding to ranged by far

That’s true to a point, just not being near the tank damage and area abilities is advantageous but I feel like it’s always been like that. In BFA Rogues had a hugely hard time being leather and melee with almost no self healing.

One of the reasons I like being a Mage is because I have a steady stream of abilities to get out of things. It makes playing the game less stressful.

You’re probably reading the same advice in this thread from others but I’ve done it several times and just started a group for my own key. It works.

You have to choose the members but it’s not really stressful. As DPS you’re choosing tank and healer so be cautious that you don’t get a low-geared tank + low-geared healer, you do want the run to be successful.

No one is going to ask you to lead the dungeon, the tank typically will.

I guarantee you’ll wait less time putting your own key group together rather than going through the endless decline process.

Are Windwalker/U DKs not super popular?

but really… my ret pally friend is hating this expac because of the shi- everywhere. He’s loving the ranged of melee.

Im sure people are avoiding melee for that reason in groups also.

Oh I did and it was nice and smooth - got a solid tank in there and it was ez mode. Just so different than how it was in bfa where getting accepted wasn’t such an anomaly

Yeah the meta is crazy now. I’ve been really enjoying arcane mage as a play style, dps is fine in mythic+ (I’m not pushing +16s or anything) but people just hate that spec because it’s not been labeled “the best”. The community gets a bit more toxic each xpac.

I play together with a friend who plays either DH dps or ret, like me. We only do m+ by making our own group and we have had people leave after getting invited and seeing 2 melee in the group.

You play melee… You should already know why.
This exp is melee unfriendly and ranges can do anything that melees can do but better. And they bring tons of utility.

Counting DPS specs only:
DK: 2 melee, 0 ranged
War: 2 melee, 0 ranged
PLD: 1 melee, 0 ranged
Hunter: 1 melee, 2 ranged
Shaman: 1 melee, 1 ranged
Druid: 1 melee, 1 ranged
Monk: 1 melee, 0 ranged
Rogue: 3 melee, 0 ranged
DH: 1 melee, 0 ranged
Priest: 0 melee, 1 ranged
Mage: 0 melee, 3 ranged
Lock: 0 melee, 3 ranged

Total: 13 melee, 11 ranged

That’s actually fairly close to 50/50. But if every group leader is thinking “I want at least 2 ranged”, then there’s going to be a problem.

Any fight or mechanic for 5-man content that can’t be done with no problems by a 2 MDPS, 1 RDPS comp needs to be adjusted or redesigned.

I do already know why, or rather I assumed why but am trying to figure out if it’s my gameplay or truly a balance problem. My point is that I DO understand why, but getting a few more crumbs off the utility table might make it a bit more balanced.

Actually having to stop to shoot an arrow instead rofling away at 190% speed shooting a million shots.

No, what they need to do is put less stuff on the ground.

If you start buffing damage for melee you get:
[1] Melee get higher damage to compensate for less uptime, but when they do fights with high uptime…they blow ranged out of the water.

[2] Melee dominates in PvP where they have higher uptime.

The solution is less stuff on the ground and less stuff to avoid, like the old days. Yes it makes fights easier, but it drops the pros/cons of melee/range proportionately.

Fights are easier, but you can again bring the player and not the class. Its the only solution that doesnt overpower melee when they have high uptime.

back on my mage i’d get declined and mages were meta XD it gets tiring that i just form my own groups but it goes just as bad. pick up people that are new and then i state it’s a learning run and you got that 1 prick that just wants to faceroll and chain pull everything until we wipe then leaves.

it could be a little of both. because if a class excels at burst aoe, another at long encounter, another at cc but consistent dmg, then by the end of dungeon it would balance. the reality is that yes, less stuff on the ground, but also with nothing on the ground it feels like ranged would still pump more

Just keep on preaching the good news that MM is on FOTM meta. More of this. Spread the word. MM, MM, MM and MM…

So I would be chosen on top of other DPS classes on my PuG runs.

Take note, I wont use Bloodlust until I see the other 2 DPS’ers outdps me. Putting out my Pet for Lust defeats the Lonewolf purpose.
