210 Arms warrior here and spend most of my time looking at the “Application to… was declined”…
And I know I’m not anything impressive. I’m just north of casual.
But the things we offer M+ were made less desirable, and the majority of the mechanics in SL make a lot our dmg drop off just to NOT die. I don’t hate this xpac and don’t think things should change about mechanics.
Only thought is that there should be some sort of either mitigation for melee dps mechanic dmg or make our group utility more interesting or powerful. I get that I can improve, and will. And I’ve seen a lot of really impressive m+ arms warriors but look at all of the top ranked teams, and just look at the group finder - rdps. I could be wrong, or ignorant, and I know how toxic, narcissistic, and egotistical any comment thread can be so unless a blue post comes in I’ll be saying my piece and moving on.
Would just love for a little bit of balance so that I don’t feel so ignorable even though I’m pulling in top or top 2 numbers in all my groups, all while taking the least failure dmg. It’s just that no one wants melee dps because as a whole we are more of a boring liability.
yeah i’ve heard that too - but the reality is even when I bring this up to people I watch stream or play with they just don’t want melee dps. I know there is a flood of applicants, but to my points about melee dps being a liability do you agree or no?
DPS monks, Fire Mages, MM Hunters, Outlaw Rogues, DH Tank, and Boomkins are all top tier. They can do 6-7k overall dps in some dungeons.
Timing keys 13+ start requiring high dps checks and it’s usually where people start slamming into failed keys the most. So the slant towards stacking meta classes starts becoming a reality.
Well, I won’t comment on what people are actually doing in mythic+ content, since I don’t run it that often.
But… I would agree based on the typical mechanics in PvE in general, it’s always melee placed at a disadvantage.
Some old school range requirements, with actual range focused mechanics would be nice. Abilities that devastate when more than 8 yards from the NPC, + the old range dead zones…
Things with “bubbles” you have to be inside to dps down. etc.
As a fellow Arms Warrior - I can attest to your struggles. This season thus far has been extremely melee unfriendly. Combine that with the “meta” desire of most pug groups and you can expect to get declined repeatedly.
I run strictly with my guild which is probably the solution I would recommend to you. Even communities can get too large and players quickly revert back to RiO and “meta” decision making.
211 arms warrior here and I know exactly how you feel. Almost no group will take a warrior.
And you have nailed it. As a melee, aside really great palyers, we are allways facing a dilema: stay on target and dps or avoid dmg at the cost of less dps, due to curently affixes and game mechanics.
You are also right on the solution, we need a buff in something to be more desirable: more dps, to make it up for the dmg we receive, risk/reward stuff., or more mitigation. More party utility would help too.
On that note, lets remember that before level squish armor mitigation was over 40%, close to 50%, and now is barely over 30%. Battle shout too, used to be a 10% buff, now is only 5%. Just give back those 2 things would be a long way in helping warriors being more desirable.
Otherwise we are allways going to be the healer nightmare or the ones being called out for low dps. Unless you got a godly tank.
yeah man the meta has gone the range way, with a lot of the changes blizz made in shadowlands its really hard for melee to have good uptime like in past xpacs, they made anti melee afixes two of them with the tornado thing and the shades a lot of tank anti kite mechanics in a kite heavy meta witch only affects us and the only melee that are meta are there just couse utility, its sad times for us, but hey we had our fun in bfa and legion we can only hope they make changes to nerf some of the meta specs, buff the non meta or just make affixes less punishing, also make your own groups, i know its anoying but seems the only out we have atm, im 220 ilvl and still getting declined a lot lol
yeah true. My guild is a dead one that some irl buddies of mine and I made for the pandemic haha. I’ve gotten plugged into some good communities so maybe that’s my answer. thanks for the feedback
It’s a meme. I’m 1400 io and I get declined all day. Unless you’re a Mage, WW, Hunter, rogue GL. You will never get invited as a warrior(arguably the worst mdps), it’s classic all over again. What they need to do is buff the under performing classes by 20-30% across the board.
yeah. I FINALLY played with a solid tank the other day and pulled 4.1k dps end of dungeon and it was the most fun I’ve had but without that I’m mostly just trying to take the least failure dmg. We’ll see though, I still only have time for 1 character and Arms is fun otherwise so maybe it’ll be balanced in time
I used to be on a low population server in a dead guild. Once I server transferred to the highest population server I could find for my appropriate faction, it was much easier to find full guilds with 20-30+ people on during prime time with an array of classes to choose from.
I think you’re largely being haunted by the bad reputation that warriors have right now. Even though arms can bring some pretty solid dps to a M+, they just have a bad rep. as a class right now. As you start pushing in to higher keys, people are just going to be inviting fotm classes.
A large portion of BFA was dominated by melee in M+. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if they came back. A rsham streamer I watch who pushes +20’s consistently has 2 melee + 1 ranged.
