It would likely be just the pool itself to choose from but no keys I would wager. People are already finnicky enough with their own wanting 2.5k IO for their 10 and 660ilvl. Which is their right but still /shrug
I really think 5s would be fine in queue with some minimum ilvl of like 640, I just invite the first who sign up for 5s. Maybe 6s, 7s, and by 10s I am usually a little pickier waiting more than a minute in some cases, but 2-5 in queue would be fine. Would you queue wanters settle for it being only up to M+5 to start and see how it goes?
Too many things would have to change.
The queue will pop. It’s unlikely give you a specific breakdown, you’ll have to get a lucky streak of the right comp to get to r1. Look at how it works in PvP… it would probably be that.
I think everyone should give it a try. It might be great. If it’s not great, maybe the community develops some empathy for what the PvP community is going through. You guys want casuals to get into games easier without checking their parses… that’s exactly what solo queue does! No check, everyone waits and gets in. The people who rise will go up in spite of whatever challenges they face.
The people who can’t rise… well… welcome to not being meta in solo queue content.
The only way that would work would be to make it trivial. This will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever work.
Then make it trivial. That’s what the team did for PvP.
Trivial queued content already exists.
While I don’t think it would work well, I think Blizz should give it a shot with Legion Timewalking Mythic+. At least gather some data from it, and see how it goes.
Why should I queue for solo queue m+ as a tank or heal?
I don’t see any advantage in this, and prefer to select my DPS manually.
If it doesn’t go well, then people won’t use it and will go back to forming their own groups.
I don’t see a reason not to (even though I wouldn’t use it) trial it - could have some requirement of rating + item level that takes time to build the actual rating. So to get up a level, you have to have a min item level and also run the current level x amount of times successfully.
The only extra effort on their part is abolishing/altering the key system as it wouldn’t fit in a dungeon queue system.
I had a feeling you’d say that. So if you’re not willing to reward tanks/healers enough to entice them to go for a system that’s much worse for them than the current system, why would they ever use the queue? It will just be filled with DPS, and maybe tanks who’s trying out tanking for the first time in lower keys.
If Mental Gymnastics was an Olympic sport, OP would’ve gone home with gold medals across every event.
I just have no kind words for how bad the idea of a solo queue M+ bracket that will just leave garbage players chain kicked or groups chain disbanding causing an even further toxic cesspool.
It works for PvP because no matter how good (or bad) a team is, ONE of them has to win and one has to lose.
This is obviously not the case since the “E” in “PvE” doesn’t stand for “enemy players”.
Genuine question, what ilvl would you set to queue for say, a 10?
For the same reason solo queue healers should heal in PvP. What do you mean?
Folks tell us all the time, “just switch to heal if you have a problem with queue times.”
If it’s supposedly good for PvP, it’s good for PvE too.
Exactly! Trial it. If it creates toxicity, remove solo queue brackets entirely. Their impacts on the community are consistent regardless of the type of content. Use it as a confirmation of whether solo belongs in the game or not, and if it’s not helpful then get rid of it.
It’s downright awful for PvP and has killed off the competitive game mode entirely with nothing left but a shell of it’s former self.
But that’s pandora’s box.
It’s like trialing cash shop for power.
Maybe that’s an indication that it should be removed from PvP. If you don’t remove it from PvP because it’s “so popular” then you should add it to PvE.
It’s not possible to argue both that it should stay in PvP and also it’s not good for PvE without being a hypocrite.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
People ask for LFR removal all the time.
Why would solo shuffle be any different?
Exactly! Add it to PvE. Clearly it’s awesome, and loved, and has no poor outcome whatsoever because so many people are queuing it!
