M+ needs a new loot system

waiting to see if the RNG gods bless us this week, isnt the best.

Blizz made M+ harder (healing) and slower to gear with crest caps that make you sit on your hands, gear wise, for days on end and we get less gear then we used to from the same M+ key levels…

why do M+ enjoyers have a loot system with zero end game player agency ?

and b4 some has a rage induced brain clot on me; no i don’t think M+ should drop mythic track gear at the end of the dungeon at a rate of 3/run with unlimited attempts at any level.

i can’t be alone here ?
there has to be a better way ?

there is.
but it would hurt raiding.

not a rage induced brain clot, but here goes

yes

no.
crest caps have been around since the system began. and prior to this, we had valor, also capped. prior to that, we had nothing at all. being able to get a piece of gear from a 7, and upgrade it to max, rather than farming it again on a higher level, even if you have to wait a week to fully upgrade it, is just good.

the crest cap exists (to my knowledge) to keep the playerbase closer together. 0 caps means the degens with unlimited playtime will absolutely gap the more casual players, or players with less time to play, in a matter of a few days, hitting ilvl cap and making the already insanely gatekeepy LFG much much worse. thats my take on it, feel free to disagree.

gonna need you to show your work on this one. in Legion, you received a bonus loot chest at the end for completing the dungeon 20% under timer, and a second bonus chest for 40% under.(i might be wrong about those numbers, but the point is the same). in BFA, similarly, more ppl would receive loot for 2/3 chesting the dungeon. 3 chesting meant 4 ppl got a piece of loot. post-BFA, 2 pieces of loot per run, period. so yes, technically we get less loot in m+, but thats referring to content from nearly 5 years ago. i highly doubt that is what you’re referring to, so please show your work.

huh?
need a specific piece of loot? target farm the dungeon that drops it.
need to upgrade a piece to the next track? target farm the dungeon that drops it.
need a specific type of crest to upgrade a piece? farm dungeons in the bracket that offers them.
want to turn a piece of dungeon gear into a tier piece that only drops from the raid? talk to a dude and presto: you have tier.
this all sounds like player agency in dungeon loot to me.

and lets also not forget the vault. while people still complain about how none of their 3/6/9 options gave them the exact piece of gear they wanted, they still had agency. choose a different, less optimal piece, or get coins to immediately add a socket to your gear. a VASTLY improved experience since the OG Legion/BFA “vaults” which were just a box that had 1 piece of gear in it. thats all u got. completely random, no choice, and no consolation prize.

do i think the system can improve? yes. does the cap get annoying sometimes? yes. would i like more gear to drop? sure. but nothing about the system deserves a rage post spewing straight up false claims about how awful it is. its fine.

trolololol…
i don’t feed trolls.
I’m talking about the current state of M+ and how to improve it, if you have ideas on this maybe try adding an intuitive idea on how things could be better?

lol i can troll if u want, but that was a response with facts disproving your claims. if thats troll, ok then =)

you’re calling me a troll, and here’s a reply. so i guess you do lol

you’re not. you’re whining about loot because you have been unlucky (i presume) and not obtained the gear you want yet. nothing you said was an “intuitive idea on how things could be better”

i think the only one here having a rage induced brain clot is you. you just dont like when someone disagrees with you, and hits you with facts disproving your claims.

The current M+ loot system is downright insulting when it comes to Mythic track gear.

Crafting is deterministic.

But the vault could certainly be improved.

E.g. once you loot an item from the vault then that item should never show up in your vault again (with the exception of weapons for duel wield classes – let them show up twice).

No, this is the most boring season I’ve healed.

So I’m playing resto druid.

Can’t do it on evoker, not enough damage taken.

crafting is really good tool to offset some bad RNG and I for one am thankful we have it.
the vault on the other hand, is yikes

for all the time we spend to have a system that many people have labeled the “vault of disappointment” needs some work

what about 18 tokens of merit = gear token of some kind as a bad luck protection ?

Awesome. you will love drood!
you got this XD

They should delete vault.

More loot drops in turn.

what if they did M+ like Delves in a way. you get key(s) for M+ that open chests with mythic track gear in it ?
you get the keys from your vault as an option other than tokens?
can go in with buddies, you all use your key(s) and trade the things.
we need some kind of bad luck protection. and this would give that option to target that thing that we just cant get.

Uhh, further swinging loot in favor of m+ is unwelcome.

Raid loot would need to be drastically buffed if you want to grant m+ more than vault.

Better off removing vault, and downcaling myth track items to heroic in m+.

the rate you get the keys would be tuned so its not more than raid, i agree there.

if its only random mythic gear for M+ then why not for raid too… raiders only get the vault and nothing from bosses no matter how hard the content is… seems fair right ?

oh wait… no that would suck… but that is what M+ is right now…

why are the ones who want to do M+ “less” ?

can’t we find a way for those who like M+ to be able to target Mythic track gear too; in a way that is balanced?

You’d struggle to pitch it at a consistent and fair difficulty. There’s also the fact that raids and m+ run on opposite timelines since one is a race and the other is a season where ladder finish is all that matters.

Raiders need quantity early, which comes from m+, and m+ers need quality late, which comes from raids and accumulated vaults over a season.

You could maybe say something like starting from 0.5 each patch the first 8 15s a week have a chance to drop a personal loot myth track item?

Raiders also kinda don’t get much raid loot until the tier is over anyway, you’re usually extending for roughly half of it and not seeing a single raid vault slot. The majority of a raid’s myth track items throughout prog still come from m+ vault.

Some people have suggested a way to upgrade from hero track to mythic track but perhaps it requires an item from your vault of +10s.

I would certain forgo my 3x +10 vault choices to get an item to upgrade a heroic item to mythic.

all of these would need consideration for sure, good points…

the people going for HoF or CE how many of them are not mandated to get a full +10 vault weekly (unless they are full bis) ? 100% gear is not going to get people CE / HoF / M+ title, it might push a few over the edge and good for them if it does.

i spent 3 full days, many runs in DFC to get the [Carved Blazikon Wax] trinket for a toon of mine, how long would it take to get this with only 1 try per week if your vault is bad.
would this really be a big change ?

this would benefit raiders and i can gear up in a way that is no so rng XD
