not a rage induced brain clot, but here goes
yes
no.
crest caps have been around since the system began. and prior to this, we had valor, also capped. prior to that, we had nothing at all. being able to get a piece of gear from a 7, and upgrade it to max, rather than farming it again on a higher level, even if you have to wait a week to fully upgrade it, is just good.
the crest cap exists (to my knowledge) to keep the playerbase closer together. 0 caps means the degens with unlimited playtime will absolutely gap the more casual players, or players with less time to play, in a matter of a few days, hitting ilvl cap and making the already insanely gatekeepy LFG much much worse. thats my take on it, feel free to disagree.
gonna need you to show your work on this one. in Legion, you received a bonus loot chest at the end for completing the dungeon 20% under timer, and a second bonus chest for 40% under.(i might be wrong about those numbers, but the point is the same). in BFA, similarly, more ppl would receive loot for 2/3 chesting the dungeon. 3 chesting meant 4 ppl got a piece of loot. post-BFA, 2 pieces of loot per run, period. so yes, technically we get less loot in m+, but thats referring to content from nearly 5 years ago. i highly doubt that is what you’re referring to, so please show your work.
huh?
need a specific piece of loot? target farm the dungeon that drops it.
need to upgrade a piece to the next track? target farm the dungeon that drops it.
need a specific type of crest to upgrade a piece? farm dungeons in the bracket that offers them.
want to turn a piece of dungeon gear into a tier piece that only drops from the raid? talk to a dude and presto: you have tier.
this all sounds like player agency in dungeon loot to me.
and lets also not forget the vault. while people still complain about how none of their 3/6/9 options gave them the exact piece of gear they wanted, they still had agency. choose a different, less optimal piece, or get coins to immediately add a socket to your gear. a VASTLY improved experience since the OG Legion/BFA “vaults” which were just a box that had 1 piece of gear in it. thats all u got. completely random, no choice, and no consolation prize.
do i think the system can improve? yes. does the cap get annoying sometimes? yes. would i like more gear to drop? sure. but nothing about the system deserves a rage post spewing straight up false claims about how awful it is. its fine.
