This is such a weird take. You know a lot of games have competitive ranked modes, right? And that arena and M+ are the PVP/PVE versions of ranked play, yeah? M+ is not new content, but it is content. It is keeping old content relevant with updated rewards and affixes and scaling difficulty. Arena is content, you fight real players and no two matches are the same. Both of these require teamwork, strategy, patience and effort.
I’ve read a lot of your replies, and it really sounds like you’d be happier in FFXIV. The content they put out is content meant to be completed, and then you come back to see the new stuff each patch cycle. Those devs main focus is their story, and they want people to take breaks. Their patch cycles are frequent, and the story is very enjoyable to play through. Highly recommend.

If endless content grinds are your problem ESO probably isn’t the game to point to.

Okay buddy, I just can’t respond to this nonsense anymore. Your replies is the exact reason why people are leaving this game in droves.
I guess you won’t be happy until you drive out all the “bad” players, then you can have your elitist utopia in all its glory.

Ok but we aren’t removing M+ just not forcing people to do that chore anymore. They can still do it while the majority of players aren’t forced too. Win/win
It’s not content it’s an activity and it was a decent activity when introduced but now it’s outdated. It shouldn’t be a focus of the game or progression otherwise you risk the same fate of Rifts in D3 that killed that game. M+ was never supposed to be this end all be all for years to come. It was a neat idea for 1-2 expansions. Now it’s run it’s course.
Been playing ESO since 2014 and I still have loads of quest content I’m still tackling. They keep adding new zones and story content on a regular basis, so it makes it tough to keep up.
I get it though, people get passionate about their games, WoW players especially, there is a lot of sunk cost fallacy going on with them.
I love WoW too, but the game just isn’t fun anymore due to the extreme focus on sweaty game systems that the current developers just seem heck bent on forcing everyone into.
no thats not the case at all. i want the bad players to stay and do what everyone else does, which is get good. getting good is a process of overcoming a challenge. i was a bad player then i become a less bad player by getting gooder. thats literally what a game is for. what you and op want is to remove the challenge because you cant do it (therefore its bad and “not content”). that is how games die.

I got you on ignore now, this will be my last response to you
Have a great Tuesday mate.
m+ has an ilvl cap and meta achievements to shoot for. it isnt an endless mode. you dont even know what youre talking about lol
I agree Mythic+ isn’t really content. It’s just scaled difficulty. Now we have another layer of difficulty for raids which isn’t content either.
Lets not recycle stuff and call it content. It’s just stalling time until Dragon Flight releases.
If it isn’t an endless mode then when are you finished doing M+ then? It’s just a silly time-gating chore metric to increase play time by forcing players to never be finished. Which feel extremely bad. This has been covered multiple times.
Exactly. This is an activity and unfortunately a forced one because you require gear and creates a multitude of problems for players.
Correct and hope that World of Warcraft becomes a wonderful journey again that doesn’t force players to waste their time doing recycled activities. We need Dragonflight to be different.
Gear progression doesn’t have to suck so badly like it does now. We can fix this by removing the Vault and adding back in Vendors. Give people a reason to log in and respect their time again.
No, it’s not. A game is about having fun. Some people have fun in games by increasing their skill. Others do not. If you’re not playing a game to increase skill, that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. You just value the game and the time you spend in it differently.

youre done when you want to be done. it could be ksm, it could be a score you are shooting for, or ilvl cap. there are real tangible goals to play for and you can be “done”. you want there to be a singular goal of completing the dungeon once to be the meta achievement? dungeons have been farmed since the inception of the game. running a dungeon multiple times is part of the culture, and theyve just made that process more interesting with m+. the fact that you cant wrap your head around this concept is a you problem and not a m+ problem. players can finish a m+ season having completed these meta goals. do you just not understand the system or what?
yeah this is relativist garbage. an rpg is a game genre about progression of your character. if you dont like that play a different game? one where you stay at the same level the entire time and nothing is accomplished. sounds like a blast. i honestly dont even think you understand what youre asking for here.

I love M+. I like pushing keys. I hate dailies, rep grinds, and daily rep grinds.
I complained endlessly throughout 9.1 about how Korthia forced me to grind rep by doing “content” that I’m not even sure should count as gameplay (running around Korthia hoping to tag rares before they die).
I’m glad there are rewards for Mythic+. I’m glad there are rewards for doing dailies. All I want is for people to be able to do the content they enjoy without feeling like they’re forced into doing content they don’t enjoy.
If someone who enjoys arenas feels like they can’t advance their character without doing M+, something is wrong. Same applies to every other part of the game.

Yes you do. You finish it when you no longer need the gear and no longer feel the desire to do it.
So don’t do it.
As I said, there is a clear end date, it’s when you feel you’ve gotten what you want out of it.

A lot of people finish at KSM.
There you go, there’s a goalpost and an end point for you.
I get that I don’t really see ALL of the players at once, but I rarely see players in the game world at any location who do not participate in M+.
As soon as your idea is implemented, people will complain there’s nothing to do.
Legion and it’s last patch added new zones not just one zone. It also added a raid and dungeon that is a true patch. I have no idea why this shift took place but we need to get back to getting new dungeons raids and non raid content in patches. In WoTLK badges were perfect. The game had the perfect model. For some reason the game did a pivot from this and I really don’t understand why.

This whole thing is a “you” problem for Abomb.
He doesn’t like M+, so he declares it “not content”.
