M+ fire mage performance

Anyone else seeing that living bomb is like 40% of their damage and it’s about to see a 60% nerf tomorrow… on a class that is already bottom of performance. This is not even close to offset by the rest of the toolkit being buffed slightly. Am I the only one doing this math?

It’s just before the expansion releases. Blizzard is changing things right and left.

I think you’ll have to wait till TWW goes live. Blizzard will let things go for several months and then buff/nerf via balancing patches or hotfixes.

Predicting the patch notes now…

“Fire mage DPS is too low. Living Bomb damage buffed by 1%”

I’ve found a way around for m+ content but on single target bosses fire’s dps is total crap.

This is the build I’ve used to do “decent” damage, double meteor timing with combustion is the way to go - https://www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/mage/fire/sunfury/DAPFZAlYFQUFQKBVBQCUQPUVQUFRBURVGAVQVBAEFVVUBQDhwiOhfUchkKI

20% damage drop after patch. Yup we’re now worse than tanks. I’m gonna go play baldurs gate

Its so bad right now I cant believe they went live with those nerfs.

Yeah, Fire is a complete joke right now.

Yeah fire is actually beyond terrible, both on the PTR and live lol. Real headscratcher of a decision by blizz to pigeonhole us into a living bomb build (that didn’t even do insane dmg anyway), then nerf it by 60%

Fire is horrendous ATM and on beta, I am very worried as someone planning to main Fire in TWW. The expansion can’t go live like this.

It’s concerning how bad Fire is this close to launch. They made all these exciting changes to the talent tree and got us excited to main it only to absolutely gut the spec. Would be awesome if they could just buff our damage outside of Combustion so we don’t have to live or die by the damn thing.

Like I don’t even need to be overpowered–I just want to be competitive.

Call me crazy, but even during Combustion it ain’t great.

someone has to be on the bottom. and it’d be great if that could be mage for once. you have two other specs anyhow.

What a silly argument.
Nobody cares to be at the bottom if everything is within parameters that make sense. At least those demanding to be always at the top can and should be ridiculed.

A DD spec dealing about tank damage just isn’t that. Nobody argues fire is not the top mage spec.

This is about a Spec so undertuned it will leave a stigma. Just like it was bad for S1 and 2 of DF and people avoided mages, let alone if you could even find one.

While it happened before, I argue for any class to be within reason of one another.

Design wise fire is amazing.
But numbers wise one can’t even get a feel for the rotation.

I literally can’t determine how well I executed fire because it does such low amounts of damage compared to other specs.

Did I make a mistake? How much did the mistake cost me? I will never know as I deal tank damage.

Something no other DD spec does while being executed withing at least 80% of it’s capability.

I could just have done a dungeon with flawless execution. Still dead last. Or was I really that bad. Who knows.

I know most peope just wanna be first.
But I at least use damage meters to measure myself and improve compared to others.

Fire data is so bad it’s literally pointless to analyse and honestly pointless to bring into any content. Every other DD will be worth ateast 30% more. And fire mage unlike for example ret pala is not trivial to navigate for good performance.

Saying other mage specs are fine is like saying other classes are fine. Specs are so different in feel nowadays, every spec could be a class on its own really.

I remember when Pyroblast actually did good damage. The 260% damage increase you get from SKB should be permanently baked in, and even doing that still wouldn’t be enough.

I had every intention of maining fire for TWW, but it’s damage is so bad it’s a joke. I swapped to arcane and am now just dumping on the damage meters. I find frost’s playstyle to be boring.
