Hey guys, where are you sitting in your m+ builds? With it being impossible to sim, I keep experimenting with different builds to see what works best.
I started with crit/haste focus. Had mana /throughput issues (like 20/30+%)
Then I tried having crit/hast/mastery all fairly even (15/15+/15% respectively) this was okay, but I felt it could be better.
Right now I’m playing with a crit/vers build. 30%crit/ 18% vers with I think 14% haste and I’m liking it a lot. (With this build I’m also using kiss of death leggo).
I’m debating to focus on finding more vers, or going with more haste. Pawn keeps telling me to throw on mastery, but idk if I trust it.
All of the guides are conflicting information, or vague so I can use some player input.
I’m pushing 19/20s currently and playing with 2/3/3/3/1/1/1 usually taking leggo kiss of death, sometimes twin suns. My priority has been upping my dps so I can be a pretend hpally, my healing has been fine with any build, but I want to push damage. I usually pull 2k overall DPS, but I want to hit like 4k if I can (this is all as venthyr, I’m currently working on pushing kyrian renown up to try it too)
What are you guys working with? How do you figure out your priorities?
since ur venth youd probably want twin suns as ur M+ leggo but youre far behind the power of kyrian and youll find a much easier time swapping that cov put the kyrian specific leggo on your pants once youre at the correct renown. think for me i prio int haste mast crit verse.
Get your haste up as high as you can, but stop at around 30%. When you go over that there is a penalty, so stop at that point. Besides, too much haste at the expense of other stats is not that good once you go over a certain point. You just end up having less impact in both damage and healing when your other stats are sacrificed. You also end up going oom faster.
As for the other stats this is what you ought to think:
In lower keys where a lot are unskilled you are going to be spamming heals a lot. So mastery is what you want to increase or prioritize. Boosting mastery means your healing is going to be stronger for the same mana, and if you are doing an outsized number of shadow mend casts in the first place, the damage you sacrifice by doing that is going to be less important anyway.
When you get to the middle high border of keys you want to maximize crit, because that is going to increase both your damage and healing.
When you get to the higher key range you want vers. It will mean less healing and damage vs crit, but the damage reduction on you is huge. Disc priests are rather weak in terms of defensives vs all other healers, holy included. Besides, all who play in higher keys benefit from damage reduction.
Lastly, sometimes the affixes matter. On Grievous and Bolstering, for example, where healing can be critical to success, mastery is a great thing to boost.
You are not running Kyrian? Wow. My main pumps 3-4k dps as Kyrian in good groups (that get most kicks etc). You also want the Kyrian Boon (leg slot) leggo for that. The healing and damage on big pulls is also insane. On big pulls my hps has topped 15k and my dps 12k+.
Go Kyrian, push for 25% haste. This will allow you to consistently get a fifth Ascended Blast in during your Boon of the Ascended windows where most of your DPS in a dungeon comes from. Grab the Sphere’s Harmony leggo as well. Crit is the best stat after haste, then Versatility (in 5 mans). Mastery is borderline worthless for dungeons since it doesn’t increase damage. I think 20% is like the minimum haste to get that 5th blast but it’s super super tight. You essentially want to prioritize whatever stat will provide the most DPS increase.
In raids you prioritize Haste till close to 30% so you can cast fast enough to cover a 20 man with Evangelism/Spirit Shell. Mastery/Crit is good second to haste in raids.
Notes-
I hadn’t really considered varying my gear based on key level, but it makes sense. (It also looks like I’m thinking on the right track though, as my gear changes have actually somewhat followed the flow you’ve recommended as I’ve grown).
Yes, I’ve been Venthyr this whole time. I’m #2 heals in my server group, and the only venthyr in the top 15 or 20. Feels good to be successful on “hard mode” lol. I really just like mindgames, it’s a very fun spell.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting kyrian testing. I tried it at renown 40 just to see without the leggo, and it was pulling like 2.4k there. I’m missing key soulbind slots and need to get used to the rotational change.
How do you guys set up the boon in rotation. One thing I notice, is I may end up running into spots where I can’t unload the boon because someone gets slapped in the middle of it and I need to stop to mend them. Is it just a timing thing and relying on them to not be dumb for 5s? Or is there nuance I’m missing? Does the aoe work with atonement?
25% for an extra cast, great to know, thanks.
Oh also, should I try to maximize using the spell that replaces smite on cooldown, or smash the blast?
Radiance and then cast boon. While casting boon queue up the smite key so you get a blast out ASAP. All together that’s only like a 2.5s-3s rotation before everyone starts getting the burst healing (on top of the initial healing Radiance gives). A single Ascended Blast is like half a shadow mends worth of atonement healing plus you get a 120% heal on a nearby ally from casting it anyway. The AOE thing is secondary filler. Blast is the one you want to focus on. If you run Mythic dungeons with Evangelism you can Evange after the Radiance first to get full atonement usage out of the boon.
The spell that replaces smite is the blast, the AOE is Nova. Blast is what you want to try and get 5 out of. You can do Blast > Nova > Nova > Blast > Nova > Nova > Blast > Nova > Nova > Blast > Nova > Nova > Blast >Eruption if you cast cleanly with enough haste.
I picked up my chest from the auction house, but all other gear was obtained through mythic+. I’m still trying for the belt from SoA. Im slowly upgrading my gear with valor from dungeons im farming for gear.
I play discipline - you can check my profile for exact stats and gear. Im doing a bit more haste right now, ive got a few alternative pieces of gear i change out from time to time.
I think versatility is a great stat to be honest. The higher the key the more valuable it is obviously. Another factor is your gameplay. As in, when the dps are taking a whole lot of damage you have some decisions to make. Do you stay planted to heal them? Sometimes when you stay planted vs moving you can continue to heal but you die because you did not move yourself. Any healer with a lot of experience knows this can happen in less skilled groups. In those circumstances versatility, if it is high enough, can allow you to risk more to keep the dps alive.
I think vers is simmed third, marginally ahead of mastery. At least for mythic +.
I think having between 25-30% haste is top priority for boon.
Crit is also great for boon, and in 10+ keys I usually pick up the extra crit anima power. 32% crit with 27% haste is a sweet spot for me. Vers and mastery are kind of after thoughts from there and in my experiences I haven’t been able to find a lot of vers + (haste or crit) gear. A lot of it is vers+mastery
Oh, yeah, in terms of damage and healing vers is inferior to crit for sure. But the damage reduction on you is helpful. Especially when the others are not very skilled and/or the key is high or relatively high.
