The constant AoE and frontal spam has got to stop. More floor spam doesn’t make fights ‘challenging’ it makes them frustrating.
AOE prevents healers from being bored. Frontals prevent everyone from being bored. (If not centered on tank.)
Because M+ isn’t made for you. It’s made for hardcore 1 month sub Andy’s who ruin it for the rest of us who enjoy not juse M+ but everything retail has to offer and have 12 month subs.
M+ is undoubtedly the worst game mode ever invented in the history of the MMORPG genre and should be removed from WoW entirely. PvP can take its place on the vault. M+ is a mini-game with nothing to do with the Lore and is responsible for turning group content into the worst experience World of Warcraft has to offer. Take it out of retail and make it a mobile game. M+ is not fun, Dungeons are not fun. Raids are not fun when tanks overpull trash like they are on a clock causing unnecessary wipes, frustration, and wasted time. The poison spread throughout all group content due to the timer, IO scoring, and the competitiveness M+ brings is immeasurable. They should cut the cord and move away from this incurable sweaty, smelly, and divisive disease.
Damage exists to keep healers from getting bored and there’s plenty of that this season. As for keeping DPS from getting bored, that’s what interrupts, soaks and mitigation are for.
At the end of the day though it’s all a matter of degrees. Floor spam and frontals are fine in moderation but when they’re too frequent and take up too much space they cease to be fun or engaging and become a chore employed by creatively bankrupt devs adding cheap difficulty to encounters.
lol, what’s actual difficulty then?
Feels like things got fixed when they implemented changes that broke down the gearing wall by making gilded crests more accessible.
Tanking and healing will probably get more fun with access to higher gear progression levels elevating those secondary stat percentages. To be sure, the first season of any expansion isn’t going to feel amazing by design.
If they wanted to put more pressure on DPS players, they would include more time-based enrage mechanics in encounters.
It’s not fun at any key level… And i’ve timed 15 and push 14-16 attempts every day. They really missed with this season. It’s awesome to be in a season where if you’re good at your role you can carry. But it’s def not like that. You can’t really save a tank and the dungeons are designed to drop the tank as fast as possible without a defensive up. Even with one sometimes. Terrible.
Yea they’re designing this stuff specifically to make MDI harder. Like that’s the only explanation for this. I’m like 99.4th percentile healer, nobody thinks this is fun. Not high rated people. Not low rated people. People wanting to get into m+ or just get their ksm mount or ksh portals. NOBODY. This same design philosophy is why people were so mad about sepulcher. It was designed to make the world first push as hard as possible. Then come dragonflight (idk about season 1 didn’t play) they toned it down and people here on the forums and elsewhere were even like “abberuss is the easiest raid we’ve had in a long time and it’s a lot of fun.” I remember reading posts like that on here. And the rewards for doing abberuss and m+ and pvp were spot on. All the mogs and cosmetics were awesome. They were so cool to this day that people still post ATSC transmog farm groups in lfg. People see my bdk or udk mog with the abb/pvp set with the KSH enhancements and they will even tell me “that’s really cool.”
For all the difficulty that they added to the parts of the game that keep wow alive past max level, the rewards suck, and it’s more punishing. If someone told me this was a scheme to get people to buy more wow tokens for repairs and obscure consumables and stuff I’D BELIEVE IT.
And i’ve spent time in the next seasons dungeons with one of my tank friends planning skips and let me tell you they need to change more about cinderbrew meadery. The slight nerfs they did are not enough. People are going to hate that dungeon despite how fun it is thematically. Thematically it’s my favorite dungeon of the season. It’s very unique compared to the drab depressing way most of tww dungeons look but the trash pulls omg, no way! Whoever designed this stuff really needs to take some paid time off work to relax, because they have the game design equivalent of road rage.
Challenge them where they live. That’s what I’d do.
