I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining about Mythic+ “difficulty” or saying it’s “heading in the wrong direction.” Personally, I’ve been running Mythic+ since BFA and started taking it more seriously in Shadowlands. From my experience, I don’t see much of a difference. In fact, the current affixes feel easier to manage compared to what we’ve dealt with in the past.
The only notable difference I’ve observed is the difficulty spike between a +11 and a +12, but beyond that, the scaling feels pretty consistent.
What stands out to me is that most of the complaints seem to come from newer players or those who’ve only completed a couple of +2 keys and then find themselves struggling with +8s.
What’s your personal experience? Do you feel this season is genuinely “harder” or “going in the wrong direction”? If this is your first time trying Mythic+, I’d like to point out that it has always been like this—it’s part of the challenge. Im not trying to bash anyone, just trying to understand if the complains have a legitimate ground.
I think Blizzard shifted the difficulty from affixes to enemy strength this xpac. This inherently makes a player feel less powerful rather than strong and playing against the affixes. No one likes to feel less strong. Especially tanks.
This coupled with the higher floor of where M+2 starts was off putting for a lot of folks.
I just don’t like them hiding behind the “it’s because a lot of players are doing delves instead” excuse.
Much harder for Tanks and Healers to the point where it’s no longer fun to play those roles. When it comes to playing as DPS, I didn’t see any difference.
I do think its slightly harder, more personal awareness and responsibility is required than before (most notibly, dps needs to know when to use defensives).
That said its not a giant change for anyone accustomed to previous seasons.
I think the disconnect is in the lower keys also requiring that mentality, so newbies and the poor performers still expect to perform at lower capacity than they think necessary. They refuse to learn and adapt, expecting to give the same low-effort faceroll of the past.
It can also be said that a lot of the issues are not using all the tools in any given kit. The amount of dead hunters who didnt use a health pot, had exhilaration up, who got hit by a cast they could have intimidated; or, a mage died with 6 of their 8 defensives available, didnt shimmer the los frontal, ect ect, speaks for a lot too.
I agree for the most part. I play warrior, dk, paladin, monk and dh. And I find bdk far more likely to be one shot and the opener to be longer which leads to dying.
I agree. But it’s a lot better now since the changes.
I think mythic rewards coming from +10 vaults has upset people that loot is now harder to get. But I think it was the right choice.
