Lvling nerf is weird

I did the campaign and only focused on the campaign quest by the time i was done I was not lvl 90. Shouldn’t the main campaign quest get you to 90 by the time you are done? I was lvl 89 and about 75%. Now with the nerf I’ll be around 89 and 45ish%.

Dragonflight and TWW were both like this as well. You won’t reach max level on campaign alone. You’ll have to do some side quests

They increased the XP needed by 33% which is huge. In your example of finishing the campaign at 89.75, you had earned around 3.6 million xp. With the new XP values, you need just under 5 million to hit the level cap. You would not be 89.45, you would be around 87.8.

I need time to level some more characters, but hopefully they will reduce to somewhere in the middle between the two because this is way too much.

I would politely disagree. They need to make the world matter again. Imo that’s when WoW lost it’s nostalgic touch is when world lore, epic and rare Boe items, and treasure stopped mattering.

We’ll like get the warband xp boost for our 2nd characters and so on. They’ll level faster than the first run though.

Doing Sojourner for the first zone and nearly all of ZA got me to 90. I hadn’t finished the campaign or was even close to it.

I don’t think they can go back. The endgame is too accessible and rewarding now. Leveling will always just be a way of gating access to endgame.

A shiny purple out in the world will never matter when you can ding and go get a few higher-ilvl purps from delves.

I, too, have rose-tinted glasses about the past, but I just don’t see how you bring that back (on retail).

I think it’s fine and it’ll get faster over time because there’s not a ton to do during week 1 ever anyway. The only people this would be a problem for are the ones who have like 50 alts they intend to level every xpack.

I did most of the first zones side quests and was capped just about when I started the final zone afters skipping every single side quest after the first. It was far too low.
