I just got chewed out (kinda), for hitting my Evoker fury of the aspects too often or at the wrong time. I just spent 10min or so reading about it, and it seems like it is dependent on the dungeon, combination of the group, etc.
Is there a golden rule for lust related spells in groups? Like, first boss, hit it. Last boss hit it?
You can generally get 3 casts of herosim into an M+ run. First pull, second-ish boss, and last boss. So, it’s more or less a decision based on route and available time remaining.
First pull in 7/8 dungeons and second pull magisters. Second and third lust you’ll have to ask tank. If they don’t know or can’t answer then that’s on them
If you don’t know when to lust you can’t really go wrong with a boss lust, they’re usually the biggest time save. It’s just some pulls eventually can’t be done or are much safer with lust.
You wanna put it on CD ASAP, so going by that rule you lust the first big trash pack.
There was a time though when I would lust when I needed it for healing throughput which coincidentally lines up with the trash pulls anyway. If you need lust on a trash pull then you’re probably supposed to use lust on it, unless people are just complete clowns and failing every mechanic.
Usually, you lust in the first pull, then second boss and then last boss.
HOWEVER, Tanks dictate the pace of the dungeon run and maybe the Tank is inexperienced or has weaker gear and need to do some vegan pulls. The “Lust first pull” mindset is built on a premise that the first pull of the dungeon is MASSIVE, like ALL THE PLANTS in Algeth’ar Academy’s first boss room etc.
So if you’re in a pug and the Tank pulls maybe 2 packs instead of the whole room - well, maybe you should save lust for the first boss then.
Some dungeons have specific bottlenecks that are popular lust targets (wich you’ll get the feel naturally teh mroe you play). Take the aforementioned Algeth’ar Academy as an exemple:
It is very common to lust the first, big, pull with all the plants - then again right before Vexamus, when the Tank pulls the entire room full of dangerous casters that need to be interrupted, stopped and overall slapped around quickly (the alternative is to pull 2 packs at a time, in wich case I personally save lust for Vexamus). This means you probably won’t have lust for the last boss, but since the fight is high movement with some inevitable downtime, I suppose people don’t want to waste a lust there? IDK its just the trend.
So, basically, check if your Tank is pulling the entire first room/area as soon as you enter a dungeon and if so, lust. Asking beforehand is also good etiquette, as Tanks tend to be somewhat control freaks who like everything perfecly lined up for their route.
There isn’t really a universal rule especially on PuGs.
If the tank does a massive opening pull, that’s often a good Lust target because it can delete a dangerous trash pack and you’ll usually have it back for the 2nd boss and again for the final boss.
If the tank starts with smaller pulls, then Lust is commonly used on the 1st boss and saved again for the last boss.
A lot depends on the group. If the party is struggling on a particular trash pull and keeps wiping there, I’d rather use Lust to get past that roadblock than stubbornly save it for a boss. A Lust that prevents a wipe is usually worth more than a Lust used “optimally” on paper.
The real golden rule is: use it where it saves the most time or prevents the most wipes.
Best: Talk to one another and decide when it will be used as a group. Better: Use during a boss’ burn phase. Good: Use on difficult boss during a tough phase. Fine: First boss and last boss in dungeon.
You crazy Lol: First trash pull and immediately on reset.
