It’s happened a few times now and it’s rather amusing.
The very first time was when I was still a little noob somewhere in end legion; when scaling wasnt a thing yet and I was ‘at level’ of the raid my friend was farming. I just came along as extra loot bag; Reins of the Astral Cloud Serpent dropped.
“Is this what you are after in this place?”
“Yea… grats…” hands over the mount to friend “Those dragons make me nauseous anyway.”
And various times I’d ask some of the Murlocs (a discord) to join me on mog runs, I jokingly say they can have the mount, I just want the mogs… and it happens. Well, them getting the mount, I still don’t get my mog.
A week ago, on Pokémon Sleep… I joked who was poking at my legendary that she’d get the shiny version… the next morning. SHE DID.
AND then just now, I watched this streamer named Spooky; reminded him of Noblegarden being up and pretty much guiding his tush through the quests cause why read quests, right? and on try 3 he got the flying carpet! He only wanted the clothes. He didn’t get any of those though. XD
And I’m just super amused I can grant people their wishes… makes my day.
You can, it’s just rarer than most WoW mounts, because the Shiny charm works differently than normal in bdsp (and I don’t have it anyway) and it only works on eggs and has no effect on wild pokemon, so you need to hunt it with the normal 1/4096 odds.
It’s not difficult, it’s just long tedious and annoying.
Good question. I do need a higher mount count and I do think it’s a nice recolor but I think part of it is some people are getting it multiple times per account (through alts) which set my expectation to “can get if you keep trying.”
Back in the day, I had two friends on the Greymane server that would coax me into going with them on mount (and then later, transmog) runs for the very same reason. After literal years of trying, Ashes of Al’ar finally dropped for one of them the first time I tagged along with him, and the same happened for the other friend with the Swift White Hawkstrider.
Personally, I’ve been lucky at getting a handful of the more rare mounts without trying all that hard. I ran into the Time-Lost Protodrake while simply questing in Storm Peaks, and the Infinite Timereaver dropped for me in one of the very first timewalking dungeons I ever ran.
Like all such luck however, I seem to be experiencing a dry spell. I feels like it might be because those two friends are gone now. I think THEY were MY good luck charms as well…
I am a third of the way through my opportunities to get the mount sadly. But I do have a couple of 5s and 58s I could get leveled. And I still have my level 60 boost. And yes do mean my leve 60. The 70 got boosted when Emerald Dream came about.
