Luck: the secret stat

After 14 years on and off at this game, a couple dozen toons played, I ask myself:

Why does RNG hate one toon, but love another?

It makes me wonder if there is some hidden luck stat in the character code that basically determines its loot drop luck for its lifespan.

This Undead priest gets + 20% chance to its loot drops, for instance, versus that blood elf warlock getting a -10 and a punch to the genitals for every boss kill.

Has anyone else noticed this? It seems like most of my characters have so-so luck at best, but there’s always one that seems cursed, and occasionally one that seems touched by the gods.

This toon for instance, just owns titanforge upgrades, seals of fate and just general basic loot rolls.

My Tauren Paladin went through ten seals of fate before he got his first drop, however.

So, Tinfoil hat time: the nefarious rng birthmark we were all stamped with upon creation, dictating your existence under the guise of random chaos.

Discuss.

Probably have an algorithm to predict how fed up you are. If you’re close to gone, they prob toss you bone to lure you back in a bit.

I have leveled and played many toons as well. Never felt like one was much different then another as far as loot goes. It’s just a set %. Given a large enough data set, they all should come out close to the same.

I’m sure it’s why some want ML back. It feels like you can control this % of loot each get. In a way I guess you can, but in a fair ML group, over time it still should work out the same. ( BTW not an argument for or against ML )

I’ll refrain from comment incase it’s hot fixable but …something something…my mage…something something…as geared as my DK and I don’t him outside of world content.

Yes, my main feral has terrible luck but my second feral that started out as an alliance male then transfer to horde and then came back and it now a female nelf is sooo lucky. That is the one who has most of the mounts drop for it and who always ends up better geared than my main feral even though it barely gets played.

I think all that money spent on transfers and faction changes gave it special status.

Luck is set by how much cash micro transactions you do. faction change, luck goes up

play your first toon that is never changed and lives on origional realm, bad luck is applied.

Gotta keep them cows milking.

This is a real item.

It wouldn’t shock me if there was some hidden system of bonus rolls.

It also wouldn’t shock me if it was just RNG being RNG and all our supertitions are just demonstrations of the human brain’s hyperactive search for patterns in noise.

I’m still pretty convinced there is a hidden code dictating the outcomes of our most celebrated victories beforehand.

Makes seals of fate seem even more ironic now

What? None of this even makes sense.

I have an alt that gets all the forges and is higher ilvl than my main that actually raids. But that same alt can’t farm old tmogs worth a crap. So you may have luck in one xpac and crap in the other. More rng on top of rng on top of rng. FML
