Luck based gearing needs to go...lol...nevermind I'm just dumb and on meds

Got hero shoulders with the wrong stats in the vault today it was the only piece I could use for tier. And…only one charge. Meanwhile people are in their 4 set with proper stats on day one of week 2. This…is extremely demotivating and honestly making me question if I wanna keep doing this at all. If I don’t get a tier piece in raid this weekend it’ll be another three weeks minimum waiting for a 4 set that I potentially might not get because of stats being wrong from vault pieces.

This, quite frankly sucks. We are all paying the same sub fee, we are all running the same content, we are all pushing the same buttons and we should all be entitled to gear at the same rates.
I understand that some minor luck should be involved…I’ve actually been pretty lucky with some of my drops…the tier set vault catalyst thing though is an incredibly dumb system which allows certain people to just live a month ahead of others. It’s wrong. Doesn’t feel good. And makes me think it’s best to just wait till the final month of the season…shrugs. Maybe I’m being crazy.

Luck based gearing is the foundational design philosophy of modern wow.

We’re just playing a slot machine.

So when you take a vault item to the catalyst it changes the stats to the raid item you catalyze it to, it actually help more so than before with getting unlucky on drops…

Man if only we had a way to be able to devote time rather then luck in such a way that allowed us to idk, create, gear specifically for something we want and was not limited by some weird weekly time stop.

Man if only there was some sort of system that allowed us to craft things…

Yea we can craft…for ungodly amounts of gold and agin…crests are capped so you can only do one a week anyway if I’m not mistaken.

Someone forgot about sparks in their haste to be quippy.

Have you already used your catalyst charge? most people wont use it until AFTER vault to reduce the chance that they get that item after all.

This is my point. There are people already in their 4 sets while others are supposed to just keep waiting it out? How does that make any sense?

At absolute minimum you can guarantee 2 piece, and could last week at that. You’ve not completed the normal raid yet, not having 4 piece isn’t gonna kill you.

if people are already in their 4 sets, it just means they cleared more content and got them early. We had the same thing happen again this tier like we did last (in my raid group) where one person got their entire set in the first week b/c they were the only one on that token. (we’re talking 4 pieces of champ tier…i mean…its’ not gamebreaking)

This isnt’ the norm, i woudln’t quit playing over it.
Just make sure yuou do all 8 keys and 8 delves so that your vault has the most chances at a good piece as possible. Also, I don’t think its a waste to use catalyst charges on heroic tier.
Also, you already have a 2 set…so you’re already ahead of a lot of people including my character here

RNG is there for maximum /played time

It makes sense because they have either done the raid 1-2 times already. They may have gotten tier in their vault, and if they killed heroic Gallywix they get another charge.

It’s more than feasible they have a 4pc if they have been consistently raiding and/or killing Gallywix.

The Vault is your bonus roll. Sounds like some others got lucky with tier drops and ran more content than you.

We’ve got six months.

Because this is a MMO built around progressing your character through the activity you choose to participate in. Meaning that if you get all the stuff immediately, you perform better but historically this indicates that you are more likely to get burnt out faster than other people.

RNG for loot can be frustrating at times but that’s why they have added systems that function both as deterministic gear (i.e. the vault and crafted gear), as a way to supplement the primary gearing method of RNG, as well as offering some bad-luck protection systems as well (i.e. the vault and the catalyst).

At the end of the day, this is a MMO. It is built for you to be playing the game for months and years, which means yes - there will be a reduction of gear available to players at any one particular time, which is counteracted by simply playing the game and over time you’ll get full tier.

Not even a modern concept, but generally speaking luck has compounded due to the evolution of modern WoW design.

This isn’t to shill Classic WoW, but up until WoD BiS lists were pretty specific. You did dungeons to gear for raids and you did raids for the best loot. You knew where your best pieces laid so it was just a matter of running that content as often as you could until it dropped and you won it.

Nowadays the gearing path is a lot more ambiguous.

Why do the stats on the shoulders matter if you’re going to turn it into tier?

When I put it in the catalyst the stats stayed the same as stats I don’t want. So I used the charge on my helm because it let me keep the proper stats. So now I have one tier piece and have to wait 2 weeks for another charge unless I get one from raid. Or reach 2k which I will do this week…but it still feels bad knowing others who are literally running the same content I am are that much farther ahead. It just feels bad…not sure what else to say. They’ll move on to harder content and I’ll just be waiting around. It isn’t the best feeling. I don’t know…just simply makes no sense to me at all. Why should some players get to feel excited and be motivated to continue the journey and others feel like they are stuck in the mud for awhile. It’s not a good system. It’s just my opinion.

Tier pieces have predetermined stats, they aren’t based on the thing you stick in the catalyst.

That’s just objectively not how things work. The tier pieces (all of them, not just the five for set bonus) always have the same stat weight, what you put in doesn’t matter.

no that was me specifically saying that the spark weekly time stop is BS.
