Lua error window opening nonstop : Twitch Client

That window is extremely annoying. It pops up every five seconds and blocks my view. Healing keys is a nightmare with it because I have to constantly close it to restore my view. I have no idea what any of it means either so why does it pop up nonstop?

Retarded if you ask me. Why not send that gobbledegook to Blizzard and not me?

Edit: It seems Twitch Client was the source of the trouble as it was downloading and installing Classic versions of some addons versus retail/8.3 versions. The question is, Is that fixed?

I had the same issue, sadly; the only solution I found for myself was an addon, it is called AdvancedInterfaceOptions. It gives you the original option to turn off lua errors which for some dumb reason was removed. Just make sure if you use it you click the checkbox at the top to Enforce Settings on Startup, or you’ll have to uncheck display lua errors every time you login

No idea why it suddenly started today. The problem was solved by turning Details and Quartz off and replacing them with Skada and Castbar. But man, I had no idea what I was getting into when agreeing to heal a key for a friend and then having that big window popping up nonstop. Like, does it have to be so big???

Thanks for the info. That addon you mentioned sounds like a great temporary solution.

If you’re getting LUA errors, and disabling your addons doesn’t fix it, then it’s a Blizzard support issue.

If your addons are causing Lua errors, that’s on you to fix, update, or uninstall that addon, not Blizzard.

Generally suggest always disabling your addons before reporting any sort of bug/issue, as if the source of the issue is an addon, Blizzard does not support any addon issues and you need to seek help from the addon developer instead, as they are the only one with the power to really solve the issue.

Usually LUA errors are from out-dated addons, so I’d usually suggest just updating your addons, and if they still persist, report the issue to the addon that’s erroring out to it’s developer.

Blizzard may make a change to their system that means an addon that was working yesterday is out of date today.

When that happens to me I find reinstalling entire game and all addons usually fixes it.

Seems several addons, in Twitch, were “classic” but were in my “retail” queue…so those no longer work…Weak Auras, Quartz, WIM, etc

Oddly, Dominos, now reports that the version installed is the “Classic” version, which is clearly not the case. My Azerite bar is also gone–and it’s nice to see that bar, so what the #&@?? Also, my versions of Details and Quartz, which were evidently the source of the problem (because turning them off stopped the Lua window from constantly popping open) were totally up to date–at least as far as what was available.

My opinion on this matter though is that that window could be less intrusive–and a lot smaller. Nobody wants to run an addon that triggers constant errors–so does it really have to be so in your face that it crashes a group activity because you are a healer or tank??

Lastly, I’d add that my Horrific Visions Weakauras has stopped working entirely, and I didn’t notice until actually in a Horrific Visions–which meant I had to write down what crystals and chests I’d gotten. I guess some of us have become so dependent on our addons that it’s to the point that they are critical to our game play. But I digress…

Edit: Twitch Client may be the source of the problems. It appears as though it is downloading Classic versions of some addons as updates when the ones installed were/are not Classic at all. :open_mouth: Let’s hope this is only a temporary problem as setting up some of these addons is very time consuming.
