So basically I created a trial druid and after playing with it for a little while and setting up the skills on the action bars I decided I wanted to boost it using my level 50 shadowlands boost, but when I tried applying the boost to it, it gave the following error:

You’ll need to do a full UI reset. Rename your interface and WTF folders, log into another character and run the command /console cvar_default (it will give an error but still works). The command resets the cvars that are stored on the Blizzard servers that your client uses for a lot of things.
Then, slowly start to reintroduce addons until you figure out which one is breaking things, then update it or avoid it. If it breaks again, while testing, you’ll have to redo the UI reset that I just described.
That did not work. It reset all of my UI and removed all of my add ons. Did the command which did give the error saying I don’t have permission for that…but trying to boost the character lead to the same error
Edit: It apparently only applies to class trial because I was able to unclick the class trial and boost the character that way.
In order to apply it to the character, you have to complete the questline on the new character. Once you complete the questline for shadowlands, it prompt you to apply to use the token.
