Doing a round of Antros kills on my alts tonight and the following LUA errors keep popping up the entire time I’m in combat. I’m assuming it’s a bug with Edit Mode somehow, as I’ve noticed my talking head/wq completion toast/extra loot toast has shifted around a little even though I haven’t changed anything lately. Posting here to either confirm it’s not on my end, or see if it’s something I can fix. <3

Still happening. Only in combat, but usually triggers every 1-3 seconds. Please tell me this isn’t just me?

Further update. I decided to create a new alt to try and unlock Alliance Allied Races, and leveled her up to 15 or 16. I still got the same LUA error…but only like 3 or 4 times total the whole time I was leveling.
I switch back to one of my 60s to kill a few more Anniversary world bosses and back to getting the errors every few seconds.
Same Edit Mode profile on every character, same addons enabled and configured with global profiles, everything is the same for all of my characters. I’m at a loss why the low level alt fighting huge packs of quest mobs is only getting the error infrequently, where the 60s fighting single world bosses is getting it constantly.
You’re not the only one. I get the same LUA error when I play on my druid (but none of my other characters).
I read through the text and it looks like the error was a problem with Edit Mode trying to identify where action bars should be located on your screen. I use Bartender so I thought maybe there was some weird interaction going with that mod and the Blizz native action bars, so I went into Options > Action Bars and unchecked all the action bars. That resolved the issue.

All of those have been unchecked since the beginning, so at least for me that’s not the issue. =(
Interestingly though, the error seems to have changed now. Same error popup, but different trigger. After noticing last night it wasn’t happening on my leveling alt vs my 60s doing raid bosses, I decided to test it this morning and spent a few minutes attacking a training dummy. Not a single lua error. So I flew out of the Heart of the Forest and gathered up a bunch of moths, killed them all, not a single lua error. So then I go and test it on Antros. Not a single lua error: until I shift forms. I played around with it for a bit and sure enough I could use every ability I had with no problem, including on-use gear and all, with not a single lua error. YAY FINALLY! But anything that changed my form, which then changes my action bar, caused the above lua error.
So I don’t know what got changed during maintenance, but I thank you whoever you are that fixed this! Hopefully the shifting part gets fixed soon too, but mannnnnnn am I glad to not have a lua popup every few seconds in combat anymore!
It is some sort of a core Blizzard UI error which Blizzard will need to fix.

Same problem here, first noticed on my druid, then on other characters. Running Bartender. Your post made me wonder if instead the issue was related to the stance bar somehow, so I disabled it in Bartender.
Preliminary testing indicates the problem is no longer present on my druid. But VERY preliminary.
I would be guaranteed to see the issue when running a dungeon on the very first pull, ran one, but didn’t see it once.
Hmm. I’ll try disabling the stance bar too and see what happens. I’m getting the errors on characters without any stance bar buttons though, and not getting nearly as many on some others that DO, but it’s always worth a shot.
Its funny just how many specs use the stance bar now (shadow?). Anyways
To follow up, hiding the stance bar solved the problem on my druid, saw no issues on my hunter or demon hunter. However, my rogue was plagued with the issue.
Hiding the stance bar is certainly a bandaid to the problem, and the rogue issues gives further evidence to your research that it is tied to the switching of the action bar (like stealth, or stances).
Hopefully they fix this soon.
Did a full round of 4 anniversary bosses on 10 alts yesterday, stance bar disabled, and 7/10 of them kept getting nonstop errors. Interestingly enough the ones that got the MOST errors were the Demon Hunter and Monk.
I’m at a loss as to what is causing this, and it’s making the game severely unenjoyable, though it is technically still playable. I wouldn’t dare go into a dungeon or raid like this though.
The weird thing is, my husband also uses bartender and has it even more customized than I do, and he isn’t getting a single error EVER. So it’s definitely not just a Bartender issue. I just wish I knew what it was so I could fix it already.
I was just coming here to say that I am experiencing this same issue on my druid most times that I attempt to begin combat with something. It’s really starting to get irritating. (On a side note, how do I change which character I am posting as now? It seems to have changed since I was last on the forums like 8 years ago. lol)

Napayshni this LUA error matches a known issue that our QA and Developers are currently investigating. This is not a technical issue but a known bug. If you or anyone else can provide more details on how to reproduce this LUA error such as when entering combat what macro, spells or actions are used to proc it, that information would help our team. Please post it over on our Bug Report forums located Here. You can expect a fix in a future update of the game. Until then if this message is spamming you a possible workaround would be disabling LUA errors:
-
/console scriptErrors 1 to display LUA errors
-
/console scriptErrors 0 to hide LUA errors
Thank you.

Thank you Zuvykree! I’ll use that console script to disable errors for now, and will be on the lookout for a note in the bug fixes hopefully soon! <3
Hello there! All I typically need to do to get the error is start combat or be in combat on my druid. Once I am out of combat, the errors stop popping up. I will definitely use that to hide the errors! Thanks so much! <3
Have you tried if it happens without any addons loaded at all? The error seems to be related to EditMode getting tainted which is then unable to call SetPoint on one of your action bars while in combat, resulting in some errors down the line.

I am getting the same if I am using Angry Keystone addon
I got this same error when I level up in combat.
I’ve got this error multiple times now since 10.0 and the trigger varies from time to time.
First I got them with my resto druid when in dungeons, infight and changing stance. Then I got them when opening spellbook while in combat. Then I realized that problems start when I lvl up. A friend has the same issue on every level up.
Today I tried to break it down.
I disabled my addons one by one and everytime I did some levels to get the error to show. As I disabled a community fixed version of “Glass” (Chat Addon) the issue was gone. AddOn enabled: Error returned
I enabled all other AddOns (except Glass) and in a dungeon I got the same error again…
I created 5-7 new characters today just to test this somehow, took a lot of time but in the end I’m still unknown what is the cause of this.
How you may be able to reproduce this:
Create a new rogue → play until level 3 (maybe you already got the error on your first lvl up) → use stealth and start combat → you should get the error now.
If its really an error on Blizzards side (after this day I’m really sure it is) I hope that they can fix it really soon. I hide all Lua errors, but my chat get spammed by the yellow message (many UI errors).
If I can help somehow, let me know.
But does it happen with all addons disabled?
I tested this a week ago and no as far as I can tell there were no errors with a clean Interface/WTF folder but that does not mean that it might be an issue on Blizzards end and Zuvykree’s might already has confirmed that.
