LShield buff

… is it enough? With a 400% increase it goes to what, 400dmg?

What are y’all thoughts?

Honestly probably not. It may end up doing a good chunk of damage over a longer duration. But in most situations you will probably still want Earth Shield.

4x0 is still 0

if something is attacking you in PVE something wrong is happening already.

and if something is attacking you in PVP why wouldnt you have Earth shield up.

lightning shield is only up when nothing is attacking you anyway, so 400% of 0 is still… well…

Yea I’d say it needed like a 800 percent buff to even be considered using vs earthshield scaling.

That being said I occasionally keep it on to generate maelstrom quickly vs double melee and keep earthshield on my healer or other dps as we are being cleaved.

I like the idea of it becoming castable on tanks

In PvE it does proc to indirect damage. In addition in PvP you can put Earth Shield on a friendly Shaman and cast Lightning Shield on yourself, and have them do the same. That way you get both buffs and you can heal eachother during cc.

In PvE it might be enough to increase our overall damage a whole percentage, or perhaps more. It just depends on the situation.

are you sure about that? i went and rechecked my logs from across several weeks, and i dont see lightnign shield damage even listed.

I’ll double check. Maybe my tanks are just bad and i take hits from adds lol. I’m pretty sure it procs though. Maybe more in dungeons than raids.

If it were a bit more solid on malstorm generation it may be helpful but mostly I’d like a better animation to it.

It’s not really reasonable to expect a ton of damage coming from it but I’d be cool if lightning shield were more impactful but we have to keep reapplying it to keep it in check. Perhaps back to just having 3 charges again?

well no because according to the previous guy 800% of 0 is still zero. Even if they buff it 1000000% its still gonna be zero cuz math.

Stormstrike should proc lightning shield on your target

This is strictly a change for PvP and solo questing.

100% I roll with Spirit Wolf when pvping or questing. The 20% speed and 20% damage reduction is too nice to pass up. I am happy about the LS increase. Better than nothing.

If they changed it back to damage against you period then it’ll be worth. I was glad to see it back this expansion then laughed when I saw it was on melee attacks only against you and crap damage.

I started using lightning shield again after I found the first talent tier spell “static discharge”. Static Discharge needs lightning shield active and Its does about 2500 damage over 3-4 seconds and is a GREAT filler in-between other spells. when you’re counting 300-500dps at a time the idea of lightning shield doing a damage that you can measure on that same 3-500 dmg range sounds AWESOME. If im getting hit while I put off static discharge atleast thats some damage being done to the attacker in the time it takes to switch to earth sheild after cast.

For pve it’s worthless for the most part. For pvp it might actually make double melee cleaves think twice about training the shaman. I need to look up it’s icd but it should hit for approximately 550 which isn’t bad on top of everything else.

Time will tell.

550 damage is pretty meaningless.

like i said, depends on the internal proc rate. if its .5 that can add up fast. if its 2 seconds its worthless.

It used to be 3 seconds to cooldown between procs, and seems to be about the same now. It’s defiantly not every hit, even from adds. There is no way this buff will stop people from training Enh Shamans in Arena. It’s completely non-threatening. The only thing this changes your world quests will be 0.001 seconds quicker.
