Why are we allowing low levels to type in trade chat. It’s full of level 1s and 10s spamming trade chat for their boosting services, and it’s never been this bad before.
We could easily cut down the spamming by a large percentage by putting a level requirement to type in it. or at least give us an option to somehow filter players that are a certain level. because I can 100% guarantee that I don’t need anything from a player that is level 59 or under.
Well i can say that a person is paying a sub and they have access to trade channel, which is part of the game… what if i make a lvl 1 and i wanna look for a guild in trade ? then what ? or low level bank toons
low levels get to trade their wares too.
So you don’t use the AH at all?
They’d just level and spam then lol
I have the antiboostspam addon or w.e it is.
Technically speaking, it would benefit the game if you needed to be level 11 to access the AH and chats.
Either that, or require a form of authentication just like LFG.
Level 11 is easy enough to obtain on your bank alt, but a bother for scammers?
They would just yell, say, whisper, emote, type in general, etc. I think they should just do a two warning perma-ban for accounts that advertise sales anywhere in WoW outside of Trade. And perma-ban any account that is caught advertising anywhere and has no level 50+ characters on it.
I don’t pay 15 dollars a month to look at ads, and I’m sure most people don’t. At least trade chat I can leave (and you can too with “/leave trade”).
As I keep saying time and time again, the simplest solution is to make a channel for all the spam to filter it out. Then ban anyone that continues to spam in the wrong channels. That way you can tune out of all the spam, and players that want a boost and use the boost channel to find a boost service. It’s the easiest solution, it doesn’t infringe on players abilities to use the trade and general chats. Along with being simple to implement, yet blizzard won’t do it cause the effort is too much.
I mean going up one level isn’t hard to do, like a bot could do that pretty much undetected given one to two LFGs would get you a single level on an allied race. It would certainly add more steps, yet it also wouldn’t outright solve the issue entirely.
I’d assume a newly made scammer account wouldnt have access to allied races. But yea… it’s just a grain in a desert…
If they added more ways to do authentication (compared to what we have now) I could see that being required for all forms of chat except maybe Bnet friends.
a lot of bank character are lvl 1s and I am betting you purchased a lot of stuff from level one’s if you buy stuff on the auction house at all.
In addition, new players should be able to type on trade chat if they want. We don’t need segregation to fix a problem you could fix yourself with an addon.
trade chat is for trade which includes offering services - there is general if you want to just chat about politics or whatnot
Because this is an mmo… every player and character should have access to trade chat. They should also have access to group finder but people with your attitude have already messed that one up.
Blizz should be able to get control of boosters without taking away basic mmo stuff like above.
No.
Really? There are a lot of bankers out there that are level 10 and under, I see them all the time in Org and they’re not boosting.
Put them on ignore.
Okay but then they’ll just level up and keep at it. Ultimately you’re hurting the average player if you restrict like this.
We don’t have this problem on Moon Guard. Our players must report the boosters to hell.
Try to sell boosts on Moon Guard! You will meet your doom.
In an ideal world, Blizzard could just dedicate one intern to ban people in the finder and spamming chats.
Not a fan of adding extra steps for your ordinary player so that they can use base functions of the game.
Very true.
Report the boosting sellers! Tell everybody else in trade to do the same. They will start disappearing. I promise you.
The issue is that they don’t disappear. People were spam reporting sellers in the group finder and they were still up two days later. All it does is hide the group while you’re online. Next time you login it’s there again.
Make an alt on Moon Guard to simply watch our trade chat.
Why is our trade channel clean?
We report the boosters!
Do people chat with their bank alts, though? A very long time ago I used to advertise in tradechat what I had just put up for auction but haven’t really bothered for a long time.
