Low level professions?

My personal opinion is low level professions are a big waste of time.

But I’m curious for those who disagree, what professions are you leveling on your alts ?

I just do gathering on alts. Pick up some free experience and get what I can while leveling. I don’t worry about maxing them out. Once they reach the current expansion they can change to something else without any sort of meaningful penalty.

Professions in general have been a big waste of time since… WoD, probably. Last time I remember them really mattering was in MoP.

This. And they were a lot more useful back when they gave bonuses. Now they just feed my crafters.

Blacksmithing has some niche items that are still useful, especially if you are a PVE twink…but yes they’re empty shells of what they used to be.

There’s a few things that retain usefulness even as the expansions continue onward. Engineering has wormholes, jeeves, molle, discombobulator ray, and a few other things. Alchemy has draenic action potions, free action potions, living action potions, and limited invulnerability potions. Tailoring will still have nets in Shadowlands.

It really just depends on the profession.

I don’t know if low levels will be able to utilize it, but there is an item in Shadowlands that allows old crafted gear to be scaled up to max level, so they could be much more useful in the future.

For now I would just pick gathering professions for the XP unless you know which crafting profession you want for SL.

This will likely change with the leveling changes in SL, since all of the expansions will be on the same level, it stands to reason all the old professions and the associated gear will also be at the same level.

Everything besides lw/bs/tailoring is useless below max level. At least you can get transmog with others
