I apologize if this is just common knowledge but this is my first time really giving holy paladin a try… I never had so much trouble healing specifically… wrath of the lich king dungeons… Are paladins just super weak until a certain point or what?
I’m currently leveling a holy paladin for the first time as well and compared to every other healer I have leveled, I have to work the hardest on my holy paladin. I love the class fantasy though. Good luck friend.
Crit dependancy makes leveling an Hpal probably a nightmare. I’d go protection and swap to Holy once you get azerite.
Should I be maximizing crit over haste?
That’s how you get Infusion of Light’s, HS crits. It’s a main staple of our healing.
In dungeons yes. You go crit>haste=vers>mastery. While leveling I don’t think much of this will matter as you generally replace gear pretty fast iirc.
When or if you raid you’ll be prioritizing haste. If you get a log, just plug it into WoWanalyzer to get your stat weights once you get into raiding. This is far into the future though, nothing to do with leveling.
Be aware when they implemented scaling world in 7.3.5, it seriously messed up the scaling for heals in the middle expansions. Wrath is absolutely the worst, on every healer. I think it gets better around MoP.
Pretty much this. Holy tends to suffer levelling for a number of reasons including scaling. Our dependency on secondary stats, the rate at which you get certain abilities, even the point at which mastery kicks in all mean that you will struggle through some levels. It all comes together at end game. It’s actually been this way for a couple of expansions. If it gets too difficult, then you can always go prot/ret for a few levels and try again when you reach the next set of content.
