Low level engineering trainer

I’m trying to start low level engineering on an alt after a long absence. The trainer doesn’t show me any of the low level recipes except two, and I can’t search for any others.

I haven’t leveled up any new professions with the changes to professions in Battle for Azeroth so off the top of my head I don’t know what issue your running into explicitly where you wouldn’t be able to see any low level recipes but I’ll try to help in anyway I can.

If you were not aware the maximum profession skill levels have been lowered for each profession tier and they’re no longer linked meaning they can all be leveled independently of each other and ranking in one has no effect on another. ie 50 skill in classic does not equal 50 skill in northrend, or anywhere else.

  • Classic professions have a maximum of 300.

  • Outland, Northrend, Cataclysm, and Pandaria professions have a maximum of 75.

  • Draenor and Legion professions have a maximum of 100.

  • Battle for Azeroth professions have a maximum of 150.

Where are you at specifically that isn’t letting you see any patterns? Does the Learned / Unlearned Tab tell you to do any specific quest related to the pattern your looking for?

Because they’ve changed each expansion into it’s own independent section, first make sure you are talking to a trainer that has what you need. (The main capital city trainers will teach the “Vanilla” version of a profession, as well as the Cataclysm level.) I’ve found that some of the later trainers (like in Outland or Dalaran) sometimes have the older stuff, and sometimes they don’t.

So, assuming you are at the right trainer, here are some things to check:

(1) Make sure that the filter options in the trainers window are set to show you stuff you don’t know yet.

(2) Because the city trainers train both Cata and Vanilla professions, and both now start at skill level 1, the sorting in the window can be obnoxious. If you aren’t quite high enough for the next Vanilla recipe, the low skill Cata recipes will show up first. If you keep scrolling, you should be able to see the next Vanilla recipes and the level needed to train them.
