Low level dungeons?

I’m returning after a bit of a break to a low 30’s character. Last I played was much closer to classic launch and I had fun running Deadmines etc. (obviously on Alliance, if it matters?). However after coming back I’ve tried to find some instance groups I think I may actually be the only sub-60 on chat.

Are low level dungeon groups still a thing? Or have I just missed the proverbial bus on that particular levelling experience in classic and should just give up and rush to 60?

I’m on Remulos as I believe its still the only Oceanic non-pvp realm - “Medium” population.

They are, but it may depend on your realm.
We have many doing them, and not carries either, but i have never been to remulos

They still exist, they just take a lot more effort to find now is all.

remulos is pretty much dead. Plenty of dungeons on Arugal, God’s own server. I’d invite you over but we aren’t accepting rerolls atm.

addendum- failing that, roll a tank, get groups whenever you want.

Greetings,

My guild on Remulos has many low level alts and mains that are currently leveling. I see low level players (from outside of our guild) running around in all of the major cities. Not sure what the above poster is referring to, but perhaps the server is only “dead” from the Horde perspective?

Still plenty of low level characters running around on Alliance. I still see many LFG messages for the low level dungeons as well. A lot of carries offered as well if you have a Retail mindset, but you would need a lot of gold for those.

You would not be alone.

Thanks.

At low levels, shammies can tank everything

Classic is different from how vanilla was, so here’s a few things to consider.

  • What time is it? Many people are schedule oriented nowadays, so prime-time is more important than many realize.
  • Are you in a guild? Like a post below implied, many people only ask in guild for groups; I’ve been apart of many runs with 4 guildies and myself as the only outsider.
  • Are you doing other things while you wait? Sitting still spamming LFG every 5 minutes can suck. Even if you’re doing things IRL while you’re waiting, it helps tremendously.
  • How many people your level are actually online? This is similar to the first point, but more specific. If you’re LFG deadmines, do /who 18-24 or whatever level range you prefer; don’t search outside what you’re willing to bring.

There have been times on my server at 4 AM where people go “LFG DM East” for 20-30 minute straight, when /who 60 only shows 39 60s online in total, most of which are in a BG/dungeon or a bot.

Anyways, hope this helps. My time runs out tomorrow so I’m just replying to random threads.

Hmm, while the “remulos is dead comment” is certainly disconcerting, from other comments it sounds like I may be missing something? When is peak time on Remulos? I was looking around 6PM AWST/8PM AEST on a few weeknights. I am Alliance on classic I just play retail also so I have a horde toon as my forum avatar.

I guess I do need to find me a guild, as I said I’m back from a break so I also found that the one I’m in has apparently died in my absence.

All good advice. I am level 47 on my 3rd toon that I am leveling to 60, and I have not missed running a single dungeon on all three toons at the appropriate level. I haven’t even had to give up once. I’ve made a group every time I’ve tried within 30 min. to an hour and cleared the dungeon, every time. I’m sure it is easier or more difficult depending upon server (I’m on Bloodsail), but I think the recipe for success is the same. Here is how I do it…

Wait until prime time. Like 6-10pm weekdays. All day is usually doable on Saturday and Sunday, like 10am to 10pm. Don’t even bother trying to find a group while most people are working or at school.

Make a macro for your server’s LFG channel… Example: “/4 LFG RFD”. Post that once or twice, to see if someone else might be putting a group together already. If not, start your own. Change it to “/4 LFM RFD”. Say you pick up a dps, change it to “LF3M… any role”… then “L2M… need Tank & Healer” Etc. You can keep questing while you spam the macro, no need to sit around.

Lots of tanks will watch your postings and wait until the group is full before biting. So if you keep updating your macro, the fuller your group gets, the better your chance of reeling in a tank.

If that doesn’t work after a while, /who the level range you are looking for. For example, for RFD I’d do like “/who 35-45”. Sort the results by class, and whisper ALL the warriors who are not already in an instance one by one nicely… “Hello. Interested in tanking RFD, by chance?” If you have a full group ready, add that in there. “Got a group ready to go.” You’d probably be shocked how many tanks will say “Sure.” when asked directly, especially if you have a group ready to go. Same with healers.

If no warriors want to come, whisper all the druids. (And pallies, I guess, if you’re Alliance.)

Unless your server is just terrible, you should get a group within 30 min. to an hour most of the time if you follow the above.

One way I find a realm’s population and prime times, is doing /who insert class here 60.

By seeing how many warriors, priests, pallys/shammys or hunters are on at a time, I get a feeling of population. For leveling it’s a bit different, but sometimes it’s just a matter of which guilds are raiding when; people tend to level alts on days they don’t raid.

From my experience doing this on 2 realms primarily; one horde med-low pop and one alliance med-high pop:

6-11 of level 60s of multiple classes online = low pop or not primetime.
12-18 means it’s not primetime, but a decent amount of people are online.
19-30 of level 60s of multiple classes online means you’re either on a high pop server or on at prime-time.
30+? Well, I don’t play on full servers, but that’s how I imagine they are.

Naturally, I still recommend doing /who of the level range you’re looking for, but /who ing 60s gives a more accurate idea of server life. As the other guy said, Sat/Sun are usually the best times.

I’d recommend looking for those 60s throughout the day as a ‘population survey’ of sorts. It’s not likely to be consistent, but it’s better than being blind imo.
