Low FPS with higher end system

Ryzen 5 5600, 3070 with 32GB of RAM and I am struggling to hit even 60 FPS in certain areas on graphics preset 7 with shadows/ssao turned off…

I feel like i’m going crazy with how much i’ve tried to fix this issue. I’ve updated my drivers, activated XMP to ensure my ram is running properly, uninstalled/reinstalled the game, removed wtf/cache/config folders and tinkered with just about every graphics setting.

Currently I cannot hit 60 fps in valdrakken with the above settings. When I go into a NORMAL bg with my graphics set to 4! I am struggling to hit 60fps. VSYNC is not on and I’m simply trying to play on 1080p. It feels like when I change graphics settings even from 10 to 1 I notice a 10 FPS difference at MOST. When I’m in an epic bg I simply can’t get above 30 FPS even on MINIMUM settings. Yes my GPU is plugged in properly and detected in game. I have reseated it in different slots with no change.

Can someone please point me in the right direction for diagnosing what the heck is going on? From what I’ve read online people with similar systems can play in 1440p/4k with higher frame rate than me on max settings. I’m at my wits end and barely feel like even playing with so many frame issues.

Have tried with/without addons. No changes.

Do you have Ray Tracing on?

No i do not.

Look at Task Manager when your playing and see what is sucking up your resources. My system spec is a little below yours and I have none of your issues. Task Manager should give you a starting point.

When I’m actively playing, I’m seeing 20% CPU utilization, 40% memory, and around 30% GPU utilization. Temperatures are normal. I have ran benchmarks on the GPU/CPU with no issues, and receiving seemingly normal scores.

With a slightly lesser system, what frame rate are you seeing in valdrakken? Are you running on max?

I stay at 70 fps in Valdeakken. I7 10700k, RTX 2080 16 GB RAM…Settings on 8.

Do you have any overlays on? Like Discord, Nvidia?

Nope. I have essentially nothing else running, not even startup programs.

Is your display device set to the 3070? Is your monitor plugged into it?

Yes to both. i have 3 monitors and have tried display port/hdmi and even a HDMi to display port converter just to see. No differences on any monitors. Also no difference if only one is plugged in.

Well, I would at least try to DDU your drivers. Make sure to unplug your Ethernet so windows doesn’t update them when you reboot. Install the new drives and see if that works.

I have tried this (DDU) and completely uninstalled my nvidia drivers/reinstalled them after. Admittedly I’m not well versed when it comes to CPUs unsure if I installed the correct chipset/driver/whatever relevant term comes for them. Any suggestions on where to check for that?
I’ve tried the AMD website for what i think is my setup (5600) and I get an error stating my pc has detected graphics hardware in my system that is not supported when trying to install anything driver wise.

Like I said, pretty clueless when it comes to CPU stuff and i feel like i’m not looking in the right place.

You need to get the chip set for your motherboard, not the CPU. So whatever mobo you have you need to go to their site to get the correct drivers and maybe a BIOS update.
