Low FPS on high end system

Hello everyone. It would seem that my fps has been tanking for some reason. I’m sitting out in Stormheim right now and only getting 38 fps. With everything disabled, (addons, low graphics). It only raises it up to around 70+ fps while capping at 80. nothing on my settings is limiting fps, those boxes aren’t checked and I’m not really sure what to do. I recently Upgraded to a 3080 with an i7-9700k cpu with an asus rog strix z390 e motherboard and I’m getting lower fps than I did with my 1080 with an i7-7700k and msi x299 raider.

All of my drivers and hardware is updated so I’m not really sure what the problem is.

As a test I opened up Black Desert Online being very graphically intensive and on their high settings I get over 100fps.

Not sure why the fps is capping at 80 right now. When I have my graphics on to the setting I had with my 1080 and older stuff, my fps drops to around the 30s at the same area in stormheim, (at the terrace of the watchers). This isn’t the only place and it gets really low in cities (around the same), but I just wanted to use an open world area which is not as demanding. Even though I also used to get 60+ fps in cities with my older stuff. The only place that I’ve gotten high fps is in dungeons, specifically Throne of the tides for some reason, where it goes over 100.

I’m kind of at a loss and I’m not sure what to do. Everything is running at a much lower fps just for WoW. I also had my old stuff before the prepatch and my new stuff after the prepatch, Which is why I don’t know if it would have only started after the prepatch or before.

Hi Sareithaulea

Do you have Ray Tracing enabled by chance. Seems to really hit FPS in some areas I find. This has the looks of a possible addon issue. You mentioned you disabled them. They still pseudo load. Let’s test with a clean UI. Run the full UI reset as a test.

As I mentioned this is a test. If it doesn’t help simply remove the OLD from your original folders then delete the new folders the game installed. This will return your original settings

If none of that helps let’s take a look at a DXDiag system report:

The second section of page has DXDiag report instructions - we don’t require the MSinfo report.

That will be a wall of text. If you have issues pasting on the Forum here go ahead and put it up on pastebin.com. Provide the link code portion of the URL - example below.

(The green bold portion at the end of this example link: https://pastebin.com/Qk28Ed1P <=== this code)

Alternately you can place the link in a Preformatted Text box. Paste the link in the chatbox - then highlight it. Click the preformatted text button along the top of the chatbox - looks like this </>

Will look like this example afterwards:

Did you turn off vsync?
