Low FPS on High End Computer

As title says I cant get more than 45fps on a high end computer on low graphics settings, I know it has something to do with not being in fullscreen but fullscreen Windowed which is our only option.

What can I do to get the real FPS i should be experiencing?
I have a GeForce RTX 2080

Post your specs, your CPU is probably affecting that performance more than the GPU is.

You’ll have to post at a minimum your cpu, mother board, ram and gpu. Also, disable shadows.

CPU Bottleneck? I get about 50 FPS running a 7 year old I7 CPU and GTX 1050ti, try tweaking your video settings in game.

Also check to see if you have Vscync on? It could be a monitor setting that’s limiting it. Also as several folks said if you CPU is lower end, that could have a huge impact.

Whenever i see posts like this, i always wonder if the OP has accidentally plugged their monitor into the MOBO HDMI out and not the GPU HDMI.

WoW, this could be it, plugged into the motherboard’s onboard graphics hdmi instead of the $2000 GPU. lols

I have spent a lot of time on different tech forums and you’d be surprised how many people accidentally do this after setting up a new desktop PC for the first time (especially after using nothing but laptops prior to that).

As silly of a mistake as that would be. If I was him I would be so happy it was a simple issue lol

In valdrakken or in an instanced? The more players the less fps. Check your foreground fps cap in settings as well.

Mine has a 2060 and, Intel(R) Core™ i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz CPU with 16gb ram, get terrible fps on anything over 5 on settings,Been doin it since I bought brand new for SL. Nothing but Windows,WOW, and MAlwarebytes installed on this thing. No reason for it but it is what it is. Sposed to be more CPU focused, mines obviously not cutting it.

Buddy of mine calls me up saying laptop i recommended is dog poop. Asks for help.

Go through a couple of recommendations and suggestions. Nothing. After some outloud thinking I mention if the battery could be bad. “Well I don’t know battery is good since I’ve been unplugged the whole time.”

Wow is cpu throttled most times. FPS doesn’t really rely on gpu until you are in a raid or have a lot of effects flying around.

If your cpu isn’t being throttled somewhere, chances are you just have some kind of limiter flipped on somewhere.

You gotta post full specs. Talking cpu speed and all that jazz

How many players were in the same area you are experiencing those framerates?

Changing “Compute Effects” to the second highest setting will cause framerates to skyrocket while having zero visible difference to the graphics quality.

But it wont’ work in areas with lots of players.

Need more info. Post your system specs.

45 fps on low tells me something is either broken or you plugged the HDMI into the MB and not the GPU. But you should be using Display Port anyway.

That’s a 6 core CPU, just like my i7-8700. Very expensive time to upgrade, wish I’d done it three years ago.

8700/k/H still very capable of playing WoW at say a 7 at 120-160 FPS.

Also it’s a great time to build a new PC. The best time since 2018.

CPU tends to be the bottle neck. You can have the best graphics card out there but if your CPU is a couple generations old, it won’t really matter.

Methinks this game uses more CPU, than GPU, so there could be too many things that are running in the background.
