For times work is dead and such to keep the grind going for wow classic, would a laptop with the specs like Intel® Celeron® CPU 1007U @ 1.50GHZ 1.5 GHz 4 gb of ram work for low setting grinding/questing?
Before I head off to dream land, I check on my toons on a Surface Go - the 128GB / 8GB config. The settings are kinda garbage but it plays classic just fine with it tuned down to run nice. I’ve even done a smidgen of questing on it… and it fits in a man purse so I could, theoretically, take it with me to a restaurant if my wife is making me be social for the evening.
Lol what. good way to embarrass the wife
Sounds interesting lol, the laptop with those specs I posted is about 150$ not trying to get too crazy, have a great PC at home just want something for mindless time killign while at work etc.
Yeah, but my WoW addiction is back in full force with classic so she knows better!
I hear ya… it is a tad pricey for what you get BUT the sucker is so darn compact. It is the same size as a 10" iPad, just a bit thicker. I love the thing.
What kind of video processing does it have? I am currently using a 10+ year old laptop with mobile Quadro and core 2 something and it is crap. Playable 10 fps but crap. I use it at work for those down times on night shift. The video is going to be the key to decent gaming.
I do have a new modern laptop on the way. Meanwhile it is laggy 10fps for me.
not sure exactly where I’d find that, nothing under the system details, and only other info pic is the pic of the barcode and such.
See if you can find something that definitely states that it has a discrete video card and not the intel on cpu video. Look for gtx 6xxm 7xxm 8xxm the 6,7 or 8 series mobile cards should be in your price range and they will give you playable frame rates.
well i’m not super worried about frames 15-20 ill be strong. I have my home PC just want a time kill at work if that one would work. It’s an asus laptop
You will want something that doesn’t overheat chugging on 20fps. It will be a miserable experience.
Good luck and have fun with whatever you end up buying though.
Get an AMD pc with something more than a toaster cpu.
With the minimum specs being as they are (see link), literally just go get the cheapest laptop walmart has on sale and it will be fine for solo questing/grinding if that’s all you plan on doing.
Pick up one of those laptop cooling pads for an extra 20 bucks if you’re worried about the heating issues. It’ll be perfectly fine.
Surface Pro with integrated graphics works a treat on lvl 1 graphics. perfect for AH, Mail stuff etc… Prob wouldn’t want to level on it and def would not want to dungeon on it, but for general tasks n such, its perfect
no that’s awful. Look into a laptop with an AMD Ryzen APU. Those things will run Classic at 60FPS easily.
Yea this is what I’m thinking, It’s literally just for playing when i’m out, PC at home is great, just a cheap way to get my fill
I was at first under the impression that this was the same game from 2004 and assumed anything under the sun could play it. I was wrong. I installed this on my lil Lenovo x230 which has an Intel HD 4000 in it thinking it would play it just fine and have WoW on the go. It was rough. 25 FPS average dipping to 10 at times. Classic uses the modern engine so I believe that is what caused it to labor. I have a MacBook Pro 2018 for work that we can use at home and I have it install on here and it plays so so well and the battery lasts 2 hours while playing. Can’t beat it. I have 2 gaming laptops that would crush it, but the easy of MacBook use cannot be understated.
yea like guy earlier posted about the minimum requirements, beats the ram part, dunno if the rest meet the cuts. but yea new engine can make it tricky. but not looking for glamours, just something to play while bored and away from home.
If you’re able to, buy a mid grade laptop to play on. I have an MSI I picked up for about a grand that runs both wow’s perfectly. It will save you a lot of headache.
I’m not a big laptop person, have my PC for my home time, its jsut something for the road whenver cheap is the key
