I feel like i should be doing more damage. Im spec’d into Park Ranger. Some sites says crit, some say haste??
What do you guys say?
Crit is by far the most important stat.
Use raidbots to sim your character. Get the simc addon, type /simc in game, paste the results into raidbots under droptimiser. It will tell you what gear to get.
Follow your sims
Crit, Crit and more Crit. Haste not as important as a lot of our stuff are insta triggered or just not that effected by it. Currently anyways. Who knows what it’ll be like in a few months …
Bro he’s bm, haste is very strong for bm.
Icy Veins is still saying crit is the top secondary state for Pack Leader BM so far this expansion (Dark Ranger still has Haste highest), which is different than BM usually is, but BM is also usually very stat-balanced. Haste is second and is no doubt only a hair behind crit.
I’m currently a bit short on haste at the moment and I’m noticing it in my focus regen.
On retail, I’ve felt comfortable with my BM damage as both Dark Ranger and Pack Leader. I have decent crit, not enough haste and higher than I want mastery. So I would prioritize crit as well.
I don’t sim for stats (on BM) but I do sim for vault, trinkets and items when they aren’t obvious.
Interestingly, on PTR, I feel a bit weaker. I need to see how my stat distribution has changed using the provided ilvl678 gear (which scales down in low dungeons).
Post a log, and what are you doing low damage in, raids or keys
Park Ranger? We finally got a 4th spec now? Given that it’s a brand new spec, I have no i-deer.

What would be the Mastery stat effect?
Depend on what hero spec you’re playing. I think for DR would be Crit and Haste, PL would be Crit and Mastery. I am currently playing DR and DR relies heavily on the hunter doing the dmg while PL relies on the pets so mastery would make more sense.
But which DR actually does better, the BM or the MM?
Follow sims, but having extra haste gives more room to make mistakes in rotation and makes the gameplay feel smoother.
Use WOWHEAD for stat priority. But there is information that they do not reveal or do not highlight that you might have missed. If you use Dark Ranger, strictly use the opener recommended no matter if you get a delicious proc. Priority is Black Arrow > Aimed Shot > Rapid Fire > fillers except during Trueshot. You spam Aimed Shot >> Rapid Fire if AS is on CD during Trueshot. Ignore Black Arrow during Trueshot unless AS is on CD. This maximizes the damage the prime benefactor of Trueshot contributes. This must be done very strictly to give you enough DPS at the start because this spec is known to drop hard in DPS in-between Trueshots. Maybe they are just bad DPSers, but I have out-dps’ed mythic players 9 ilevels above me on single target doing this on Heroic raid encounters. If you are not MM, ignore this or adapt to your spec.
Of course this is just for 11.07 because 11.1 changes everything. In 11.1 Dark Ranger and Sentinel uses the same rotation but Sentinel consistently has better RNG procs than Dark Ranger. And Sentinel has a higher DPS ceiling. My highest DPS on Sentinel was 1.53mil at Dorn while my highest for Dark Ranger was 1.31mil. No flasks, no potions, no buffs, and no food testing on level 80 dummies wearing highest S2 gear and haste trinkets on PTR. These tests were abundantly done today after they added the new talent Unbreakable Bond.
No, use raidbots and sim actual gear not stat prio.
