Love how they extend the "planned time," for maintenance

So, to start no I don’t want a refund or anyone’s head on a pole but I think it’s so 1984-ish how they edit the planned time of maintenance. I would ask the new co-leaders to start admitting that maintenance has been extended for unforeseen circumstances instead of pretending it was going to be 9am all along.

this is your big concern for the day?

So should they have left it at 8 and had the forums light up with WTF SERVERS DOWN?!

Think before you speak.

I mean you definitely have a point.

The maintenance had to have been extended beyond the planned time for some reason…

You can’t just change the planned time of the maintenance because some unforeseen circumstance made it extend beyond that time.

George Orwell called, he wants you to re-read the book since you clearly think it applies to this situation, when it doesn’t.

Yes, Blizzard extending maintenance by an hour is analogous to a fictional totalitarian dystopia. Brilliant.

I’m a devops engineer. It’s pathetic they still need outages at all. Let alone extending the time. Get with the times old man

Nah but they couldve updated the extended time earlier than on the last minute of the planned maintenance

Surely they knew a good 15mins ahead of time that they were gonna need more to finish the maintenance …

Was that the bite of 87

Does it matter?

somehow it’s all because Ion is a LAWYER

Of course, we know he is responsible for everything… maybe even global warming.

Read it many times over the years, an organization changing words to make it seem like something always read one way when it was actually edited is a spot on comparison. How did he call you anyways, you guys friends?

Like I said, not even by the computer anymore but listing it as PLANNED until 9 instead of EXTENDED til 9 still shows someone there refuses to accept responsibility for anything.

Not everyone has your lame day-to-day schedule.

First week playing WoW?

I love how 16 years in, people are still complaining about Tuesday maintenance

good point. clearly the guy whose biggest problem on a Tuesday morning is video game server maintenance being extended by an hour is the one with the jam-packed, event-filled calendar

20+ year old engine… C++ is a pain when you are dealing with 20+ years of spaghetti coding.

Or more likely, the guy just changed the string and went back to his coffee without thinking about it.

“Edit string, push to prod . . . gonna get my muffin . . .”

I ran out of milk last night, it’s so 1984-ish.
