I’ve been reflecting and of the handful of times i got blamed for a bricked key I realize that most of them weren’t my fault. In almost all of those situations, either it was someone else messed up a mechanic or I did but they also messed up a mechanic/their rotation that contributed to the loss.
Some people are too quick to blame others in dungeons and they’re not even right most of the time on what the actual issue is.
so yeah just sucks. i think the key is to just get a premade, you can avoid toxic people this way
For example we wiped in fall on the 2nd boss yesterday and i got blamed for dying. However the initial mistake was the DPS dropping the debuff in the wrong spot and not in the light zone. This made it really tricky for me to get around the environmental
Odds are really good you played a significant part in your own deaths. There are certainly hard pass/fail mechanics where the individual causes a wipe, but most times, mechanics aren’t just straight up lethal and people die when cooldowns and/or consumables would’ve saved them.
This doesn’t even touch on the more advanced nuances of knowing encounters well enough to anticipate and see the impending danger looming and thus taking yourself off the healers radar thus freeing up their mental capacity to handle the others.
I am a big believer of personal responsibility. I’m always looking at myself and what “I” could’ve done differently to have either prevented my own death or made things easier on the healer(s) and/or DPS to have helped avoid theirs…even if that means being open to suboptimal strats just because it’s what that group is comfy doing.
I accept it when I’m the problem and usually apologize.
But then you have things like Fortified Bolstering weeks where the tank pulls 3-4 packs at once then rages at the party.
Or Afflicted weeks where the healer ignores the afflicted and the dps have no way to do afflicted, so the healer yells at dps for not helping.
I had to fake a DC for the first time ever the other day because this tank was chain pulling and dying constantly, constantly losing threat to everyone, healer wasn’t healing any dps, because the tank was taking so much damage, and we were at like 48 deaths and not even past the first boss, and I figured one of us needed to be the douche to spare the rest of us, so I was.
“Lots of blame shifting in pugging”
“I’m realizing the wipes were everyone else’s fault, not mine”
Hahaha, using cellphone is not always easy
na i mean i had to and do take responsibility for my own mistakes, ive literally made hundreds on my journey to ksh
after every run i look at what i can do to do better, especially when someone blames me i usually look at my play very critically to see what went wrong
im just saying that a lot of the time, i realized it wasn’t my fault solely. people will point fingers and blame you for things they also make significant errors and often even bigger errors. and sometimes it just straight wasn’t my fault (which does happen)
dont worry about it.
next run is a new opportunity.
