the extra 35% healing to Holy Shock looks fantastic on meters and it’s the reason we are getting Holy Shock nerfs…….but Even initial hit of riptide hits harder.
it’s literally negative healing. If my Holy shock is hitting for 300k, LOTM can increase it to 405k (increase of 105k) but, I will suffer a heal debuff of 121K which means the net gross is negative -21k.
It’s negative yeah. But there are many scenarios where you need to heal and top people fast, specially in M+. 35% is not insignificant at all specially considering how strong holy shock is now, making the talent our best choice considering how awful the other choices are (Liberation, Tyr’s, Veneration, power of the silver hand, Righteous Judgement, Glistening Radiance, Overflowing Light, all pretty weak atm).
Sometimes it’s not about how much healing you do in the long run, but how quickly can you recover before incoming damage. In the end a dead dps does effectively 0 dps.
Also, stronger HS means stronger Rising Sunlights, Stronger Divine Tolls, snd stronger virtue windows a.k.a stronger AOE.
I also dislike the nerfs to HS and WoG, but last time I checked Hpal was still pretty good in raid, even after multiple Herald nerfs. This is ofc not ideal, since Herald aoe healing will likely required a cap to be properly fixed, and Lighsmith it’s still weak due to its design in the same way Herald was OP due to how it was designed.
Shaman is currently the one of strongest healer (or was, at least until the giga buffs Rdruid received). What will likely happen is they will try to bring in line Rshammy, Rdruid and Hpal by slowly nerfing them. At least in a ideal world, we all know how blizz does things sometimes.
Original LOTM was also a net negative compared to casting normal heals in that same timeframe. I think the new LOTM exists for those holy paladins who think, “You know what? I can dodge these mechanics better than the dps.” You can better heal your party, with the tradeoff that you have to take more personal responsibility regarding your own mechanics and positioning. Personally, I feel like we have so many sources of passive and nearly-passive self healing, which would otherwise just be overhealing, that this will not be a major problem.
Yeah this is my experience. Lotm works well - HS absolutely pumps. I don’t even notice the shield since I cast judgement nearly on cd and with truth prevails the passive healing pretty much drops it off.
I see in that exact way. I have control of their life most of the time (since many dps dont use heal pots, soulstones, or defensives unless they are like at 10% health).
In some ways, it’s like Blessing of Sacrifice. I take a portion of their damage because I’m not in inmediate danger, X player is. The same applies with LotM. And with Hpal now being again one of the best spot healers in the game and that being its niche, more spot healing power it’s great in my eyes, since that extra global can mean the difference between life and death.
