I mailed gold from one character to another, along with some other items. I sent two separate letters, one containing the gold, and the other containing the items.
After waiting an hour, I went to the mailbox and opened it up. I clicked “Open All.” The items hit my bag, the letters auto-deleted, and the gold disappeared…never to be seen again…on either toon.
I can’t open a ticket in Classic…because that is broken, as well. Can I please have my gold back?
Sounds like there’s a gnome rogue in your mailbox, friend. You might want to look into hiring a fumigator. I’ve heard that Putress & Son’s offers cleanings free of charge.
I’ve had this happen in a mail from the AH.
I opened the mail, and it says both my items sold. I posted each item for 10s or higher. Then I clicked “open all mail”, and my money amount only went up 6 silver. Boy, was I surprised!
Something is wrong using “open all mail” with money mail.
It may have happened other times too. That time I checked my money amount before and after. And I was planning on using that silver, so I noticed when I didn’t get it.
Sadly a ticket is your only option, if the in-game ticket system is broken (!) then you could try using a browser:

You should open a ticket, but keep in mind, this often shows up on the forums, and every time I’ve seen someone mention it, it turns out the gold was delivered.
The mailbox error that occasionally occures with open all, does make it seem like gold is missing, however if it wasn’t claimed it would still be in your mailbox.
If you open a ticket they can look into it for you, but most likely the gold was delivered, and you simply didn’t notice the difference to your total.
Did it actually say 10s when you opened your mail, or are you just going off what you remember listing it for? I ask, because if you set your bid price low, someone probably could’ve bid on it and won. People are listing bid prices low to get higher up the default list, but forgetting to check to make sure there aren’t any bids.
If that’s the case you may also have fallen victim to the AH cut
Sorry, Panacake, but you’re wrong. I watched as it happened. I had 84 silver, I opened the mail with 1G in it, then I had 84 silver. So…yeah, it’s not on this toon, and it’s gone from the one I mailed it from.
Thanks everyone else. I’ve already opened a support ticket via a browser. I know 1 gold isn’t a lot in the grand scheme of things, but when you have a whopping 70-something silver to your name, it is a lot.
