I have lost more loot than I can remember to people who already have it. Today I lost 6 pieces of loot in LFR and 3 of them all went to 1 person who already had those pieces. Please change the way loot works in this game. Losing loot to people that don’t even actually need it has got to be addressed. As well as how often people win loot when they didn’t even participate in the raid at all. That’s just messed up. I keep seeing people purposely avoid enterting boss fights and collect loot.
1 - you can’t roll need on an item you already have at a higher item level.
2 - it sounds like you want masterloot back so players can enforce their rules on who deserves loot the most?
I want personal loot back. And just today I was on my hunter and in a LFR and it had 1 other hunter and i checked his gear out. He rolled need and won 3 items that he was already wearing.
First, file a bug report if your story is true and it was the same item, not just the same slot.
Second, would you be upset if the same Hunter won 3 items he was already wearing using PL (which didn’t have loot restrictions in place like GL)?
It always seems hard to believe though about everyone rolling need on items they have. I run the raid on multiple characters and need is grayed out on so many equippable items.
I still sometimes win stuff on offspec rams transmog. My DK won normal tier legs with transmog roll and I won the heroic Fryakk 2h Polearm with an offspec roll both last week.
Don’t try defending the current loot system. its absolute trash. Every single other mmo out has a better loot system than wow. Elder Scrolls loot system is better. They need to fix it. and I said what I said because it’s accurate.
I vastly prefer group loot to personal loot.
I’d prefer ML the most, but GL is good enough.
Believe it or not but there are vastly superior loot systems that they could do.
I have personally seen how the loot system works in LFR. I was not able to roll need on any items I had already that had dropped in that run. So if you are actually seeing players being able to roll need/win items in LFR it is not the roll system structure issue it is a roll system bug issue.
Recommend submitting a bug ticket as well as posting this issue on the bug forums. To also include name-realm name of individuals that this is the case for as they may be hacking, but I was not there so I cannot say if it is the case.
Probably, of the ones ever implemented in WoW I think GL is only second to ML.
Queued content should use personal loot.
Solo content should not.
It’s literally that simple. Unfortunately patch 7.3.5 was pushed by those who failed to comprehend as such, hence why they needed to add a “legacy loot mode.” And now they are gatekeeping proper loot rules for Shadowlands raids despite most of them being very much soloable at level 80. They need to drop the idiotic pretense of “legacy content is two expansions behind” despite that being a moving goalpost, and as of this post not even properly adhered to given BFA raids having yet to be adjusted for solo runs.
They can roll on the same item if it has different tertiary stats.
