Lorewise, Is The Darkmoon Faire Still There?

Back in Dragonflight a Dreadlord called Lord Banehollow disguised himself as a Forsaken woman called “Madam Shadow”, took over the Darkmoon Isle, filled it with funny Demons doing shenanigans and invited a bunch of lowbie Warlocks to “teach” them, while actually planning to steal their souls in revenge for the Vanilla Warlock Horse Questline.

You can interrogate him to figure out where all the people went, but he doesn’t answer. He just throws you to a big demon to get eaten.

Lord Banehollow: When ravens circle and donkeys bray…

Lord Banehollow: When the sun is down at end of day…

Lord Banehollow: When trouble toils and bubbles play…

Lord Banehollow: Madam Shadow comes this way.

Player: That’s nice. Where have all the people gone?

Lord Banehollow: Hm? Ah, I couldn’t say.

Player: Really.

Lord Banehollow: Indeed.

Player: And the darkness?

Lord Banehollow: It’s nighttime.

Player: The demons?

Lord Banehollow: Surely you’re joking.

Player: I’m on to you.

Lord Banehollow: No, you’re not.

Player: Yes I am.

Lord Banehollow: I can assure you, you’re not.

Player: I’m not dropping this.

Game: Something bad is about to happen. Do you wish to proceed?

So… like… did he kill everybody or did he just rent the isle?

I’d pay for an Air BnB in Darkmoon.

I imagine that after we foiled Lord Banehollow’s plans they ran away or something.

But like, did they kill anyone when they took over?

Did they kill everyone when they took over?

:scream:

I hope the rabbit is ok…

If you keep pestering Madam Shadow, she tries to feed you to Fluffy, who drops an imp skin if you kite and kill him. Gotta do it as affliction.

I did it as Destro.

I burned it as fast as I could, and I used some fears and a Succubus for that sweet movement speed reduction debuff.

Or you could walk into the arena later as part of the normal Darkmoon Faire and grab the book then, no monster to worry about.

The advertisement for the Darkmoon Faire says “you wouldn’t believe the deals we made to get it… or who we made ‘em with.”

Lord Banehollow is the owner of the Island. Of course we have no idea where on Azeroth it is or whether or not it’s even on Azeroth for that matter. It might even be in Revendreth below the fog for all we know.

The Faire is still there and as per the deal it is only open for those not on the Nathrezim’s payroll one week of the Month then the Darkmoon Faire has to move out while the Nathrezim and their associates move stop hiding under illusions.

Lore wise I think they are alive. None of them could fend off a dreadlord though.

Also the Darkmoon Faire always gave me “these guys are the strongest beings in creation, they just don’t flaunt it” vibes. There’s just something unnerving about them.

Like how Whis is stronger than Beerus (possibly many times so) but you’d never catch him showing that off.

everyone in the DMF is a Cleaner, doing side gigs for fun

speaking of that lock quest, the scaling is crazy on it and it’s alternately easy or impossible depending on the level you do it

I did it as destruction. A few well timed demonic circles and a fear or two got it done and I just burned them. But affliction mobility probably would help.

The DMF is full of Almighty Janitors?

can you only do this before you finish the lock chain?

I’m gonna go by Hearthstone canon and say N’zoth, Yogg-saron, C’thun, and Y’shaarj are all in the Darkmoon faire possessing the rides and stuff.

No, I believe you can go back and do it after. There was a blue post about how to get back to that instanced version of the darkmoon faire. It might have been in the warlock forums but I don’t remember for sure.

It drops from Fluffy.

The Darkmoon Faire island only opens for one week of every month. Probably the demon shenanigans went on during their downtime.
