Can all lore content for Horde OR Alliance be completed on one character with the way the game works with the shadowlands expansion?
I am aware that in theory, I would easily be out leveled for some zones one I hit 50, but I thought it would be cool to see the story through the eyes of one character. I thought of this when I leveled my Blood Elf through BFA and there were references to me have the Heart of Azeroth, which at the time I in fact did NOT have. This led me to think that playing in order would clear up some confusion in the storyline.
It won’t really be productive beyond getting the lore and the questing achievements but you can go back into zones you’ve outleveled and do the quests.
Yep it can be done on one character.

I did loremaster on this character both pre and post cataclysm. It can all be done on one character.

I guess to add to the question, can I start in Outland and work my way up the expansions to the current content? (Without using Chromie Time)
Hrmm assuming you pause your experience where needed yes you can but it is probably more effort than it’s worth.
Yep. If you’re not using Chromie time you’ll want to get the Soft Foam Sword. That’ll let you do objectives that require you to injure but not kill mobs.

Holy hell I have a huge mountain to climb. Meh, maybe if I make it a year long side project I might finish it.
You totally can, everything is still there to be done however you want at any time you want. Chromie Time is irrelevant. You can do everything with ease.

Wait, I’m confused. I thought Loremaster had to be done on the same character.
It used to be but not anymore. Ever since they added individual achievements for every zone (I think it was part of the Cata makeover) you can do it across multiple characters. The Loremaster achievement is an account-wide meta from completing all of those.

So, I figured this was the case. I just knew that they changed some things with how expansions are accessed ( via Chromie Time for example) and wanted to make sure this was still accurate. I have always wanted to play the story from start to finish on the same character and decided it was about that time

Weird… it doesn’t show up in my alt’s achievs. But good to know!
Thanks everyone for the quick and helpful replies! Always a pleasure!
Wish me luck on my journey!

Came here to say that! I put it on my action bar when doing Loremaster last spring. I had it for EVERYTHING else…except the zones that were reset during Cata. I had to repeat those completely.
The sword to wound things so I could use the trap/capture/spell quest item was super helpful.
Advice if you want it. Break it up into small goals. Zone by zone. Take breaks. It can be a many month project to be honest. BUT it is good to do.
You can also do other achievements, pet battles, etc as you go. And even level crafting for those zones if you don’t have it.
The addon AllTheThings is fantastic for doing old content and getting all the achievements, quest rewards, recipes, transmogs, etc.

have you got “show only character specific achievements” (or whatever it’s called) toggled?
…that may prevent the parts of the meta which have been completed by a specific character from showing?
Sorry, another question came up… a Part 2, if you will…
If not using Chromie, I will not be able to queue for dungeons for the zone I am in, and will have to find a group for these dungeons on my own… correct?
I started this character from level one and have been going for the Loremaster title. Currently completed everything up to and including Legion. Questing in BfA right now.
This is literally the only character I have. I have zero desire for alts especially with a Druid since they are like four character in one. I’m never bored.

You should be able to solo most of them but if you can’t or don’t want to you’ll have to find a group the old fashioned way.
