I’m planning to get Loremaster achievement, I’m not in a rush, and planning to RP through and enjoy the story.
Still, I want to make sure I complete everything in order and don’t mess up the achievement itself - are there any guides or personal suggestions you guys can send/give?
I’m starting with Outland Loremaster and as far as I know it’s the most painful one. Any recommendations?
I completed it not too long back. I really enjoyed doing like… a couple of regional zones at a time.
For instance, Red Ridge and Burning Steppes had some quest continuation which was fun to see. I leveled my alts and when I got tired of that, I did it on max level characters.
Maldraxxus ended up being my last zone and I hated it because of no flying and the vibe just isn’t my style for that zone.
Kinda just did what I felt like in chunks when I felt like it. That’s really the best way to go about it. See what zone feels fresh and new to you and treat it like an adventure.
I also did Outlands first! I always really enjoyed the zones and it was quite fun for me personally. It would be cool to do like… Outland and then immediately do WoD to have the lore fresh in your mind to make comparisons too.
Good ole Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor were really daunting but fun at the same time. You’ll love it and hate it. When you start to hate it, just take a little break haha.
Oh and in terms of quests, it really guides you quite well on what to do just through the quest tracker. If there’s a chapter you can’t find, just check it up on WoWhead.
Get the addon BTWQuests and the subsequent addon for each expansion, it will give you a run down of every quest in every zone so you can keep track easier and know what you are missing or where you are up to.
For me personally I also only do Loremaster during the corresponding TW week, like do Northrend during Wrath TW week, you get bonus rep which helps with things like the 100 rep achievement and you only do TW stuff once per 3 weeks so you can take a break between expansions and not feel burned out.
and the All The Things addon.
It’ll track all the quests, (without needing to download modules for each expansion)
It will also track any vendor items available in the zone… for transmog, or pets, or toys, or mounts, or profession recipes you’re missing… basically it does what it says.
It tracks all the things.
Be aware that with Outland, you can’t just quest straight through most of the zones.
You will need to pick up quests from one zone, which finish in another zone… so keep this in mind if you think you’ve run into a roadblock.
Great tips so far; ^as uwuoniichan said BTQuests is a really good addons for quest tracking. Alternatively there is a paid option in Zygor which i did the sojourner parts of SL/DF
I think don’t be afraid to do it over multiple characters; I felt a lot more motivated doing an area with a ‘lore reason’ as to why my character was there. I had a human warrior seeking vengeance for Southshore in my hike up to the Plaguelands.
During the journey there’s one quest chain to which the foam sword doesn’t seem to work and you’ll need to have a character at that level. I’m referring to ‘ Lunk’s Adventure: Cranky Little Dwarfs’ in the Searing Gorge. When you choose to do this area you will want a character that is level appropriate. The other parts of his adventures seems to be fine.
Good idea in smashing out Outland. Shadowmoon valley there is essentially a full day commitment in my experience because of all the running around. Do EK/Kalimdor afterwards and you’ll have gotten the big ones out of the way.
This link above will find any completed and uncompleted quest by toon, in the entire game. Wowhead comments are also an amazing point of info to assist you. Search for the quest you are stuck on, search your toon for uncompleted quest chains and wowhead comments will usually have info you need to start a feeder quest.
Install TomTom, All the Things - you could install a quest addon because the earlier quests sometimes dont have info on what mobs/where a particular thing is. Any info you will even need about any of it is usually in Wowhead comments, with click to copy coords and simply paste inside the game - TomTom gives you a nice arrow to follow.
Take your time - many of the zone quests culminate into a final dungeon run to complete and almost all of the early xpac of these the quest turnin for completion is outside the dungeon so i highly reccomend quing for this dungeon specifically as you get there so as to not spend countless hours travelling across wow to hand things in.
Chromie time has made this feat extremely easy nowdays, pick your xpac you want/need to do and go.
Id suggest doubling up doing Loremaster with leveling Allied races - im leveling another warrior as we speak via wotlk - im 46 already after a few days and only just about halfway through the second zone. I did Loremaster in MoP and it took me about 3 months - alot has changed since and you will hit it alot faster.
Final thoughts - Do Loremaster as both Horde and Alliance (yes double the quests) because some of the best content i have exer played exists in these zones and getting both sides of the story was amazing for me.
You can do it on more then one character?? I always thought it had to be the same one. That’s actually good news. I tried to start it years ago, but I got so tiered of doing the old content on the same character, and got tired of the character too! lol
I’ve seen some great advice in here (wasn’t aware map marked Loremaster related quests) I got Loremaster in 2012, so MOP time? A lot has changed since then. Two things I did not see in here I encountered while working on it:
(1) You will probably get Seeker while you are doing this, this is the achievement that is based solely on the number of quests you do–hint: check opposite faction zones, for instance I found quests in Durotar alliance were able to do!
(2) Not sure if Blizz made this easier/better to find, some of the addons help with it, but be aware there are drop quests out there that might take a little grinding to get the item to drop.
Don’t burn yourself out. It took me literal years to get done. I’d chip away during down times and when I felt like mindlessly hitting buttons, half paying attention at most.
Loremaster was gone over a number of years back and they lowered the amount of quests needed in the old zones and newer zones only require the main story. I believe its impossible to screw yourself by skipping/missing breadcrumbs now.
.
That being said, I use this site:
.
[Category:Zone storylines - Wowpedia] https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Zone_storylines
.
It lists the main storylines and sidequests for each zone in order. However the TBC zones are a little wonky as they were written almost 16 years ago and the format people adapted to got better over time. But its the best resource for what you are looking for and what I use myself.
.
Having a second monitor helps substantially.
I see your Outlands, and raise you Desolace.
“On Behalf of the Horde” took me about 15 random quests scattered all over and not showing up on the map before it gave me credit.
people really need to stop forking out money for this stuff.
it’s just not needed.
everything post-cataclysm is incredibly linear.
unless something changed recently, progress is account-wide, but you need to fully complete zones on one character.
you can’t do two chapters of a zone on one character, then do other chapters of the zone on a different character.
you wouldn’t want to try doing it that way anyway, because you’d need to repeat the first couple of chapters to unlock where you were up to.
this was never possible.
breadcrumb quests have never counted towards zone progress.
I’ve tried doing this is a couple times and just can’t get through it, it’s to boring but I wish you luck.
I do actually enjoy the lore of the game (although lately it does seem like it has been going downhill) and read wowpedia every now and then as well as watch Nobbel videos on youtube (and Bellular speculation videos).
