You see it countless times. People saying the alliance got screwed over because of mechagnomes=so unpopular and such. While its true Vulpera are more popular, lore wise Mechagnomes are probably significantly more powerful and they probably provide a huger advantage to the alliance than Vulpera do to horde. Lets look at the pros of each race:
Vulpera:
Their primary advantage: Specialists in Scavenging and survival.
Thing though here is that the horde already has dozens of races that can also do this kind of thing just about as well. You have trolls which are adept in living in the desert for extended periods of time. Goblins make it their speciality to gather material wealth and though, they lack survivalism to the same extent, they make up for it significantly with intelligence. Plus there is nothing indicating that Vulpera are as intelligent as goblins. Bottom line is that they don’t offer much in terms of capabilities that the horde doesn’t already have.
Mechagnomes
Their primary advantage(s): Incredible intelligence, technology surpassing what Gnomergan gnomes have.
When it Rustbolt we saw that Prinze Erazmin and another Mechagnome had suggestions for how they could offer all kinds of upgrades based on race and class. This ranged from things such as making rogues be able to step entirely soundless to goblins being able to hear light. They can replace entire limbs without complications, they are able to replicate themselves, they have warping technology and truth be told. These guys could probably be every class in lore if they really wanted to using technology except maybe druid(mechadruids is a contradiction). Its worth nothing that they are also just about the same size as Vulpera and could easily make themselves bigger with tech.
Compare the advantages looking at this in terms of power and capabilities and its easy to see who wins in this regard.

Except the Alliance doesn’t have playable Mechagnomes. We got stuck with the Junker variety of Gnomes.

Since they are officially called Mechagnomes, that is what I am calling them. As for whether they should have been called Junker gnomes, that’s a debate for another time.

Lol, vulpera > gnomes with replaced limbs

Alliance only plays pretty, human-like, races.

I don’t care what they call themselves. I can call myself a body builder but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m scrawny. Junker Gnomes are not Mechagnomes.
But back to the topic at hand, lore doesn’t matter as far as faction balance goes. Or else the Alliance would be seriously broken with our alien goat people that have tech that far surpasses that of the feeble gnomes. And we got the Draenei back in BC while the horde got the scattered survivors of a butchered race that got beaten up by their own dead.

Back in TBC, that technology wasn’t Draenei tech. It was expressly said to be Naaru technology that the Draenei helped maintain and pilot, which was the plot-related reason as to why the Exodar was never fully rebuilt and why they couldn’t replicated it.
WoD and Legion’s writers completely forgot this and decided to give Draenei actual crystal space ships and technology.

The topic is about how how powerful they are in lore and what they have to offer in terms of sheer capabilities. Not so much the popularity. Here is an interesting to know for example. In lore there is only about 300 void elves and the amount of illidari is rather limited, but the sheer amount of them is misleading. Vulpera definitely win in popularity. I am hardly denying that, but I think Mechagnomes win in what they offer to the alliance in terms of lore capabilities compared to what vulpera offer to the horde. Of course I am open to arguments against this.

Except it was. The Naaru are beings of Light, they don’t need technology since they are able to control one of the very strands of the universe. The Exodar was an Eredar space ship that was powered by the holy crystals. The holy crystals were the cores of the Naaru, and were sacred objects to the Eredar religion. The Eredar used the Naaru as batteries as far as their space ships go.
Dolly and dot provides the horde added morale. I’ve give them that for sure.

Junker Gnomes don’t offer the alliance anything more than normal gnomes do, as they are just normal gnomes that decided to replace a few limbs and other body parts with machines, which, frankly, would make some tasks actually harder for them. How is replacing a hand with a wrench better? You lose your fingers and thumbs… as well as become more rigid and less flexible. Mechanization is a downgrade, not an upgrade.
Yeah but nobody cares about the mechagnome lol so being powerful is moot.

Also, its bad enough that nobody takes gnome posters on the forums seriously, just like how nobody takes male blood elf posters seriously. But add in the fact that you have not one, but multiple special characters in your name without reason, it just makes you look even more like a joke.
The point is, nobody likes gnomes. Even gnomes don’t like gnomes, as they tried to turn themselves into Mechagnomes, and failed doing so.

As far as we know, the Gnomergan gnomes aren’t advanced enough to actually replace limbs with mechanical ones and we haven’t seen them using warping technology. One clear advantage is that hands made of metallic alloys could probably do more damage and also be equipped with all kinds of built in weapons pretty easily.

Ad hominem fallacy. Irrevelant. Lets not resort to personal attacks now.

Their town is called Rustbolt ffs… They use scrap metal and junk thats been laying out to replace their limbs. Thats gotta cause some medical issues and infections. Mechanization is a downgrade.
Yes, but you see, they turn scrap into functioning body parts, which no other race could do

What we have lore-wise doesn’t matter if we’re never allowed to use it. The Alliance could have won the war a few dozen times over if we had all of the super weapons and demigods show up instead of being sent back to the toy box until the writers eventually remember they exist.

I dont think its a matter of whether or not other races could, but a matter of other races being smart enough not to cut off their limbs and replace them with rusted bits of metal…
